2 PAYROLL INFORMATION
- Your start date is the first day on your
personal calendar from your HR packet. - Pay Day schedule is in your packet from HR
- THE GRAPEVINE , the Financial Services
Newsletter will be e-mailed to you on a monthly
basis. It will contain important information
about Payroll and Benefits. - Direct Deposit is required. A Direct Deposit
form was in your HR packet. Please take the
Direct Deposit form to a branch of your bank and
return the completed form to the Payroll Office.
3Monthly Pay Dates- Insurance Premiums are pulled
a month in advance. Payrolls deadline for
deductions or changes is the 5th of the month.
4Teacher Retirement System
- We participate in the Teacher Retirement System.
- 6.4 of your salary will be deducted for your
deposit to TRS - .65 of your salary will be deducted for TRS
Insurance (Health Insurance when you retire) - If you are not a current TRS member, you will
receive a packet at your home address from TRS
that will include a form to name a beneficiary.
5Social Security
- Round Rock ISD does not pay Social Security for
employees that are eligible to participate in the
Teacher Retirement System. - Please read and sign the enclosed statement
concerning social security and return it to a
representative of the Benefits office today. - For questions regarding social security, please
contact your local social security office, a toll
free number is listed on your handout.

7Important Facts
- You have 31 DAYS from your start date to
return your completed paperwork to
the Benefits Office. - If you miss the deadline to turn in your papers
you will not have the opportunity to sign up for
benefits again until Open Enrollment next year.
We can not accept late enrollment paperwork. - All Benefits are effective the first of the
month following your start date. -
8Open Enrollment
- RRISD will hold Open Enrollment for all of our
employees August 24th, 25th and 26th at the
Performing Arts Center next to McNeil High
School. - Watch your e-mail when school begins for open
enrollment announcements. Plan changes and
premium changes will be communicated via the
Grapevine electronic newsletter. Additional
benefits may be available to you during open
enrollment. - Please complete your new hire enrollment
paperwork prior to attending an open enrollment. - Benefit elections made during open enrollment
will not be effective until 10/01/06.
9- The Benefits Highlights in your packet
outlines all of the benefits available and - their cost.
- Please fill out the forms marked REQUIRED on the
instruction sheet. With the exception of
Disability, every benefit that you elect will
require an enrollment form. Dental and Vision
use the same enrollment form.
10- Use the name that is on your Social Security card
when completing enrollment forms. - When writing your address, please dont
abbreviate the city. (Example Dont write RR
for Round Rock) - Please be sure that you have completed all of the
necessary forms before turning in your paperwork. - We encourage you to stay today and complete your
paperwork. If you take your papers home, we
suggest that you return them in person to the
Payroll/Benefits office in the Administration
Building.
11- We do not encourage sending paperwork through
intercampus mail. Please bring your completed
paperwork to our office and we can ensure that
you have completed all of the required forms.
Incomplete paperwork will delay the processing
your paperwork. - Once you have passed your first 31 days of
employment you can only make changes to your
benefits due to a Qualifying Event or Open
Enrollment. Changes due to a Qualifying Event
must be made within 31 days of the event.
12INSURANCE PREMIUMS ARE PULLED A MONTH IN ADVANCE
- If you are on the Semi-Monthly payroll insurance
premiums are pulled from the first check of the
month only, premiums are not split between your
two checks. - Please return your paperwork to us prior to the
payroll deadline of the 5th of the month.
13Examples of how insurance premiums are pulled for
the monthly payroll
- Example 1 Hire date August 4th, benefits are
effective September 1. If the enrollment
paperwork is returned to the benefits office
before August 5th, the August check will pay
September premiums. - Example 2 Hire date, July 20th, benefits are
effective August 1. August check will pay August
and September premiums if paperwork returned by
August 5th. - Example 3 Hire date, July 20th and paperwork
not returned until August 19th, premiums for
August, September and October pulled from
September check. - When you return your paperwork to the Benefits
Office we will tell you how many months premiums
will be pulled from your check.

17Pre-existing Condition Clause
- For details on the pre-existing condition clause,
please refer to the Summary Plan Description
located on our website. - A certificate of insurability from your previous
carrier may be required by UnitedHealthcare when
processing certain claims. If you receive a
HIPAA certificate showing previous insurance
coverage from your previous insurance carrier,
please keep it for future reference.

27Life Insurance
- RRISD provides 10,000 in life insurance
- Voluntary Life Insurance (Guaranteed issue up to
100,000 for new employees) is available to all
new employees and their spouses (50 of amount
purchased for employee) and unmarried children
under the age of 25(10,000). - Age restrictions apply, see application for
details.
- Purchase limits for Voluntary Life are 7 times
your annual salary - Accidental Death and Dismemberment is also
available. - Evidence of Insurability required if purchasing
more than 100,000 in Life Insurance.
28Tax Sheltered Annuity
- Two different deferred compensation plans
- 403b and 457b
- Both plans have limits on your annual

29Leave of Absence
- All absences must be reported via Subfinder or
the Electronic Absence Request - A leave of absence is required for absences
lasting more than 9 consecutive days - Contact the Benefits office for LOA paperwork
