Sharks are viewed and depicted as vicious animals
that have no other purpose on this planet but to
kill and scare the human race. Its true that some
sharks have attacked but there are purposes and
reasons behind these attacks. This WebQuest is
designed to help you understand sharks
characteristics, their habitat and why they are
important in the life cycle.

Task
  • Research the different species of sharks and
    their habitats.
  • Analyze information to determine what classifies
    an animal a shark
  • Compile all research information and present
    findings in the form of a journal.

Dive into the Deep
  • Students will begin by filling a KWL chart to
    determine their prior knowledge over the shark
    species.
  • Once the students have filled handout, teacher
    will compile all information onto a whole
    classroom KWL.
  • Students will we be split up into groups of two.
    A list of shark species will be provided in order
    for every group of students to research a
    different type of shark and the area they reside.

  • Students will access licensed online
    encyclopedias along with other online resources
    to research their species of shark.
  • Their research will be compiled into their
    personal journals. Content should include
