Hamilton-Burr Duel

• Hamilton thought Burr was dangerous.
• Hamilton supported Jefferson instead of Burr in
  the election of 1800.
• Hamilton supported Burrs opponent in the race
  for governor of New York.
• Burr (being the dangerous man that he was)
  challenged Hamilton to a duel.
• Hamilton fired in the air (on purpose) Burr
  fired at Hamilton.
• Hamilton died.

  the usual manner, and it pleases God to give me
  the opportunity, to reserve and throw away my
  first fire, and I have thoughts even of reserving
  my second fire.

Some of Jeffersons Accomplishments

• Reduced Army and Navy expenditures
• Cut the budget
• Reduced the national debt by 1/3
• Eliminated the whiskey tax (a very unpopular tax
  created by Hamilton)

Louisiana Purchase

• Spain gave France their land from the French and
  Indian War.
• U.S. worried about French domination (under
  Napoleon) in the Americas, but France gave up on
  having an empire in the Americas.
• Napoleon offered to sell the Louisiana Territory
  to the U.S.
• The Louisiana Purchase more than doubled the size
  of the U.S.

  explored.
• He sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark

Is it just me, or do these guys seem like theyd
have a hard time surviving a camping trip at Lake
Geneva? How did they make it to the Pacific
coast???
