Title: Traveling Tennessee A Virtual Vacation

1
Traveling TennesseeA Virtual Vacation
  • Introduction
  • Pretend you are traveling the great state of
Tennessee. You will find a city in each Grand
Division to visit. Then, youll look on the
Greyhound bus schedule to find out how much it
will cost to travel there and how long it will
take. Youll also research attractions in your
city and write a paragraph that would convince
your parents to take you there.

2
Traveling Tennessee
  • You have to visit one city in each Grand Division
    of Tennessee.
  • Click to find a city in West Tennessee.
  • West
  • Pull up the TravelBlog to tell me the city you
    want to visit.

3
Traveling Tennessee
  • You have to visit one city in each Grand Division
    of Tennessee.
  • Click to find a city in Middle Tennessee.
  • Middle
  • Tell me the city you want to visit on your Travel
    Blog.

4
Traveling Tennessee
  • You have to visit one city in each Grand Division
    of Tennessee.
  • Click to find a city in East Tennessee.
  • East
  • Write the city you want to visit on your
    TravelBlog.

5
Traveling Tennessee
  • Check the Greyhound Bus Schedules to your three
    cities.
  • You will have three days in each city. Pretend
your departure (leaving) date is exactly two
weeks from today to travel to the first city.

6
Traveling Tennessee
  • In your TravelBlog type the prices for travel to
each city. Then enter the total for all three
    legs (parts) of your journey.
  • Then, type the departure and arrival times for
each part of your trip. Figure out how long each
leg will last. Calculate how much time you will
    spend on the bus altogether.

7
Do Trips Have Legs?
  • When people are traveling to different places
during the same trip, they call each part of the
    journey a leg.
  • Pretend youre taking a trip to the mall. If you
were going to Chuck E. Cheese, Macys and JC
Penneys, the first leg of your journey is from
home to Chuck E. Cheese. The second leg is from
Chuck E. Cheese to Macys. The third and last
leg of your journey would be from Macys to home.

8
Traveling Tennessee
  • Research each city to find attractions youd like
to visit. Put the link for the attractions in
your TravelBlog. Then write three reasons for
each attraction that would convince your mother
that it would be educational for you.

9
Traveling Tennessee
  • After writing your three reasons for each,
compose a paragraph using the reasons to talk
your Mom into letting you go to each one.

10
Whats a Paragraph?
  • A paragraph is three or more sentences that are
all talking about the same thing.
  • For each paragraph, you need to make sure that
every sentence is about how you can learn from
    visiting that attraction.
  • You also need a sentence at the beginning that
tells what the paragraph is about (a main idea).
For example These are the three reasons that
visiting The Grand Old Opry (or whatever youve
chosen) will be educational for me.
