3General Information for Core 40 ECAs with Questar
- There will be 3 administrations during the
2007-08 school year - Administration 1 and 2 (online only)
- Algebra I and Biology I
- Administration 3 (online and paper-and-pencil)
- Online Algebra I, Biology I and English 11
- Paper-and-pencil Algebra I, Algebra II and
Biology I

5Administration 1 Reports
- Student reports will be available beginning on
December 28, 2007. - After this date, reports will be available 24
hours after a student submits a completed test
(both sessions) - Once a school indicates Testing Complete,
school and corporation reports will also be
available
6Administration 3 Details
Tests Administered Algebra I, Biology I, and
English 11 (online only) Algebra I, Algebra II,
and Biology I (paper-and-pencil)
7Algebra II and English 11
- These content areas will be administered by
Questar during the A3 Spring 2008 administration
only - CTCs will be notified if they are assigned to
test these content areas with Questar - Once CTCs are notified that Questar will be their
corporations vendor, you will be able to login
and register for these content areas - Algebra II will be available using
paper-and-pencil only - English 11 will be available using online testing
only
8Biology I - NCLB
- Core 40 ECA Biology I is a component of No Child
Left Behind (NCLB) - Every state must administer a high school science
test to each student Indiana will be using the
Biology I ECA to fulfill this requirement - Biology I will be administered during all 3
administrations in 2007-2008 - If one of these administrations does not fit the
needs of high school(s) in your corporation,
please contact the IDOE at eca_at_doe.state.in.us
9Participation Guidelines
- ECAs should be given to students who are
finishing the tested subject area at the time of
each administration - Algebra I this includes middle school students
taking and completing the course for HS credit - Biology I this ECA fulfills a NCLB requirement,
all students completing the course must take this
ECA - Algebra II all students completing this course
- English 11 all grade 11 students completing an
English/Language Arts course - Please Note At this time, it is anticipated
that schools will be required to record a
students performance on an Indiana Core 40 ECA
on the students transcript

- Corporation Test Coordinator (CTC)
- Key contact of communication
- Upload Data Collection to STN Application Center
- Completes CTC Registration, assigns STCs
- School Test Coordinator (STC)
- Verifies that all teachers during each
administration are setup on the site - Distributes usernames/passwords to teachers
- Responsible for making sure Test Scout is run
- Indicates Testing Complete when school is done
testing for each administration

- Person whose class in which students are enrolled
- Must obtain a username/password from their STC to
login - Use the login to create class folders and view
reports online - Test Examiner
- Person who administers the test to students on
testing day - Receives a Test Examiner password from their STC
to use as an override on testing day for
different scenarios

- Program
- Developed to ensure workstations being used by
students on testing day meet requirements - Web-based no software is needed
- Email will be sent to the School Test
Coordinators with URL and login (4 digit school
number) - Logging into the Test Scout site will
auto-capture your OS, Browser/Browser version,
Java and Cookies - 1st party cookies are required for student and
administrators to access the site - This is located under the Privacy setting on
your internet browser - Results report will display any risks

- Take sample test
- Verify good speed between questions
- Verify entire question displays
- Verify navigation buttons display
- Verify the ability to finish a test
- Email will be sent to STCs following CTC
registration - Completed at least one week prior to testing

18NEW Data Collection
- IDOE data collection will be used for online and
paper-and-pencil testing - CTCs are responsible to coordinate the upload of
student information to the STN Application Center - http//ideanet.doe.state.in.us/stn/
- Online this will pre-register students to their
class - Paper-and-pencil this will generate barcode
labels to be shipped with other paper-and-pencil
materials
19Student Information - Online
- Student information will appear in the online
interface in one of two ways - Student information has been imported into the
site from the IDOE STN Database - Student information has been uploaded to the STN
Application Center by the CTC - There is no need to set up students in database
- Any student not included in import can still test
20Need for Test Examiner Password
- Test Examiner password is needed to validate a
student login - Reasons when Test Examiner Password is needed
- Student Test Number
- Student Test Number entered was not included in
import from IDOE - 4-digit School Number
- The 4-digit school number entered does not match
the number included in import - Student resumes testing after more than one
calendar day
21Test Administration Information
- Test Examiners should be familiar with students
taking the test - Students will log in using their Student Test
Number and 4-digit school number. - Get this information PRIOR to student
registration/testing day - Use the new Student Roster Report to gather this
information if they were part of the Data

- Student Test Numbers (STN) for all students
testing - The 4-digit school number for your school
- Supply of pencils for students
- Scratch paper for students
- Clock or timer
23Materials Needed for Algebra I Students
- Copy of the Algebra I Formula Sheets
- Located in the Test Examiner section of the
Online Testing Manual or obtain from your STC - Can also be downloaded from the Core 40 ECA site,
use this to reference most current version - Graphing Calculator
- Students may use most four-function, scientific,
or graphing calculators on the Core 40 Algebra I - End-of-Course Assessment (ECAs)
- Information on calculators that students may NOT
use can be found in the Test Examiner section of
the Online Testing Manual
24Test Sequence
- Each session is to be administered in a 45 minute
timed session a total of 90 minutes per content
area - Once a test session is started, it must be
completed the same calendar day - Sessions can be administered on separate calendar
days
25Time Allocation
- Those students who are STILL WORKING ON THE TEST
following 45 minutes should be instructed to
advance through the remainder of the test by
clicking Next until they reach the review page - The students should review their test questions
and answers and click Finish to score the
questions they have completed
26Testing Day Scenarios
- If a Student Needs to Leave the Testing Area
- Have the student Pause/Save the test and log
out - Collect all materials from the student before
he/she leaves - Upon return, return the materials and have the
student log in again to resume where he/she left
off - If a Student is Caught Cheating or a Testing
Instance Is Not Valid - Report the name of the test, the Classroom
Teacher's name, and the student's name to the
School Test Coordinator to invalidate the test

28Helpful Hints
- Make the technology staff aware of testing
- Have the staff available to assist with any
technology related issues - Make arrangements to have a telephone or email
access available during testing.
