Dictys - Medusa Gorgon, w/ snake hair, wings, and if
looked at in her eyes man would turn to stone

- King Acrisius didnt want to kill P so he was
exiled out to sea

Dictys - Dictys brother polydectes wants to get rid of P
- Polydectes marries Danae plan to kill P

- Polydectes convienced perseus to go off and kill
medusa - P received mirrored shield from Athena
- P also receive magic sword from Hermes

- P traveled to the Nymphs of the north they were
the only one who knew how to kill gorgon - Nymphs were three grey sisters from Graiae with
only one eye among them - P steals the eye the Graiae share and refuses to
return it until they help him.

nymphs - winged sandals that allow him to fly
- a wallet that expands to hold anything
- a cap that makes its wearer invisible

sleeping. - The two gods point out Medusa who is the only

- Theseus The greatest hero of Athens
- King Aegeus King of Athens and father of
Theseus - Medea Great sorceress of Athens
- Ariadne Daughter of Ageus
- Hercules Cousin of Theseus

- Theseus lived with mother in south Greece instead
of in Athens with father - King Aegeus leaves a sword under a rock for when
he gets older - When Theseus moves the rock and gets the sword he
journeys from south Greece to Athens - Theseus kills all bandits on the way
- Famous for the Journey he takes
The Beginning

- When Theseus arrives at Athens Medea convinces
Aegeus to Kill Theseus - Aegeus doesnt realize that Theseus is his son
until he see his sword - Medea is exiled to Asia where she lived the rest
of her life
Arrival at Athens

- Theseus saves Athens from its obligation to the
king of Crete - The Athenians were defeated in a battle against
Crete and every 9 years they must send 7 girls
and 7 boys to suffer in the chamber of the
minotaur - Theseus offers himself as a victim

- When Theseus finds the minotaur he beats it to
death - Theseus is helped by Ariadne by using a golden
string to find his way back through the maze - Theseus abandons Ariadne on the way back to
Athens - When he returns to Athens his father has
committed suicide - He is then announced king of Athens

The End of Theseus
- His son rejects her which makes her commit
suicide - She writes a note that accuses him of rape and
he later is banished to an island - Theseus goes and visits his friend King
Lycomedes who mysteriously kills him
