  • 6 week team base worksite wellness challenge
  • Offered at 3 worksites and the YMCA
  • Ultimate Goal weight loss and healthy eating

  • Percent of weight loss
  • Decrease in body composition
  • Exercise
  • Strength Training
  • Weekly Challenges
  • Good Deeds
  • Journaling
  • Weekly Weigh-ins
  • Prizes
  • Grand prize- 100 gift card for each team member
  • First place- hour massage for each team member
  • Funded through the registration fee and YMCA

Summer Fit Challenge
  • 110 participants at 4 worksites
  • State Auto, AEP, Showa, and YMCA
  • Results
  • Over 600 pounds were lost
  • Over 3,000 good deeds were completed
  • Use of fitness centers increase
  • Increase in attendance at fitness centers classes

Why the Summer FIT Challenge was Successful

Modifications to the Summer FIT Challenge
  • Bi-weekly or monthly weigh-ins (depending on
    length of challenge)
  • Not measuring body fat composition through out
    the entire challenge
  • Relying on more self-reported measures, make the
    team captain responsible
  • E-mail the weekly challenges/ have them posted in
    the fitness center
