Types of Diabetes
  • There are three different types of diabetes.
  • A. Type I- Includes Juvenile diabetes and is
    insulin dependent1
  • B. Type II- Adult onset (non insulin dependent)
  • C. Gestational- Pregnancy diabetes

3
How You Get It
  • A. Type I- This form is usually brought on by
genetic factors. It is passed from generation to
    generation.
  • B. Type II- This type is triggered by obesity, as
well as excess sugar in the blood stream and a
    sedentary lifestyle.2
  • C. Gestational- Brought on by pregnancy

4
Effects
Insulin pumps like the one above are used instead
of insulin shots every day.
5
Vulnerability
  • Type I- Present in childhood, is determined by
genetic factors. Whatever your familys chance is
for getting it will likely be the same for you.
  • Type II- Linked with obesity, and usually affects
    adults over 35 of age.
  • Gestational- Being pregnant

6
Symptoms

  • Urine is dark yellow, a sign of excess sugar
    being expelled by the body

Selected endnotes
  • 1. Type I diabetes, or insulin-dependent
mellitus, formerly known as Juvenile onset
mellitus, is the most common problem in
    children.
  • 2. Kids are becoming more sedentary and are
eating more junk food than ever before. With the
invention of video games, computers, and TV, kids
have more of a reason to stay inside and sit.
This leads to obesity, and then to Type II
    diabetes.
