Daisy Girl Scouts
Daisy Girl Scouts are girls who are 5 or 6 years
old or who are in kindergarten. Every scout
belongs to a troop in groups of five to 10 with
two or more leaders. They go on trips, learn
about nature and science, and explore the arts
and their communities. Daisy Girl Scouts can also
earn Learning Petals and receive participation
patches. Daisys wear a membership pin as a sign
that they belong to Girl Scouts. Daisies now wear
a shirt with a flower in the middle.(To see what
it looks like go to photo of a Daisy Troop) On
their shirts they place Learning Petal and
participation patches.

girls are brownies they learn how to make their
own decisions. Brownies can earn badges. The
uniform for brownies are a membership pin and a

Cadette Girl Scouts
Cadette Girl Scouts are girls who are 11 to 17
years old or in 7th to 12th grade. Just like
Brownies and Juniors, Cadettes earn badges too.
For a cadette to earn a badge it takes a lot of
work. Many troops will work on these badges in
their troops together or girls can do them on
their own. Cadette Girl Scouts is all about
setting goals for yourself and being able to do
new things. You will be exploring more adventure
like going down rapids, rock climbing and going
on long trips. Earning the Silver and Gold Award.
The common uniform is the girls membership pin
or a tan sash.

Founder of Girl Scouts
The Founder of Girl Scouts is Juliette Daisy
Gordon. The Birthplace of Girl Scouts is in
Savannah, Georgia and is also where Juliette was
born. Her house was built in 1821 and has been
restored in 1880 furnished with the original
furniture the her family had owned. In the home
you can also find some of Juliettes artwork.
Located in the heart of the Savannah Historic
District, "the Birthplace," as it is commonly
called by Girl Scouts nationwide, was the city's
first National Historic Landmark.

History of Girl Scouts
Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls
from Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912, for a
local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all
girls should be given the opportunity to develop
physically, mentally, and spiritually. She wanted
to get girls more active in their environments
and into community service. Girl Scouts hiked,
played basketball, went on camping trips, learned
how to tell time by the stars, and studied first
aid.

Purpose of Girl Scouts
The Purpose of Girl Scouting is to inspire
girls to be the best girl and person they can be.
Inspire them to help out their community and
others. To help girls express themselves. Girl
Scouts is great for girls because some girls may
not have sisters so the girl scouts can be her
sister.

History Contunied
Within a few years, Daisy's dream for a
girl-centered organization was realized. Today,
Girl Scouts of the USA has a membership of nearly
four million girls and adults. A significant
growth from its modest beginnings nearly a
century ago. In fact, more than 50 million women
in the U.S. today are Girl Scout alumnae.
