• Green computing refers environmentally sensible
  computing which means using computers but at the
  same time saving energy and resources.

Advices on Conserving Energy-paper

• When you must print do it double-sided  
• Edit on screen not on paper  
• Save to disk instead of printing on paper  
• Use e-mail to minimize paper use and dont
  routinely print e-mails

Advices on Energy Conserving-electricity

• Turn the computer off overnight and on weekends.
• Wait until ready to use the PC before turning it
  on.
• If the computer is going to be inactive for more
  than 16 minutes consider turning it off. After
  this time the energy needed to run the computer
  outweighs the start-up energy.

Benefits

• Conserving energy by green computing decreases
  air pollution.
• Reduces gases in the air such as carbon
  dioxide sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.
• Less gases in the air less global warming smog
  and acid rain.

Little Tip on How to Save

• Screen saver programs were designed to save
  the phosphorescent coating on the inside of the
  CRT screen thus giving it a longer life. That
  however is the only thing they save.
  WebMasters Note Color monitors are far less
  susceptible to burn-in than monochrome therefore
  usually do not need a screen saver
• Instead of saving energy screen savers that
  display moving images actually cause your monitor
  to consume almost as much electricity as during
  active use. Since these programs involve
  interactions with the CPU they require even
  further energy consumption. Even a blank screen
  saver only reduces monitor energy consumption by
  a few percent.
• A single high-density 3.5-inch floppy disk can
  hold the equivalent of 750 sheets of paper about
  one and a half reams.
• Diskettes containing outdated information can be
  reformatted and reused. Always re-use your disks!
