COTS Task Completion Guidelines and Capacitor
Evaluation(Task 04-063)
BenefitsNASA Projects will be provided
guidelines for evaluating, screening and
qualifying COTS EEE parts for spaceflight
applications. Guidelines will be supported by
direct NASA experience.
Description In FY03 NEPAG initiated two
extensive evaluations of COTS EEE Parts (one each
for PEMS and ceramic capacitors). Each
evaluation consisted of procuring COTS EEE parts
technologies from numerous suppliers and
subjecting them to in-depth construction
analysis, screening and qualification testing.
Primary objective of each evaluation was to
identify value-added techniques to assess the
flight worthiness of COTS technologies. All
capacitor testing, most PEMs testing and some
preliminary data analysis was completed in FY03.
In FY04, the data analyses will be completed.
Results will be used to develop formal guidelines
for evaluating, screening and qualifying COTS EEE
parts (PEMS and ceramic capacitors) for
spaceflight applications.
