• Adenoid Tonsils are very frequently affected in
  the paediatric age group below 12 years.
• It is an important organ serving the vital task
  of checking various organism so it is aptly
  called as Policemen of the throat.
• The efficacy of Nosodes in the treatment assumes
  greater significance by applying Hahnemannian
  guidelines especially in preventing its
  recurrence .

NOSODES - HOMOEOPATHIC CONCEPT

• The term Nosode is derived from the Greek word
  Nosos meaning disease. The nosodes are disease
  products prepared from pathological tissues or
  secretions, which are potentised according to the
  homoeopathic method.

• Hering was the first to openly introduce disease
  products into homoeopathy by proving Lyssin.
• Nosodes have been compared to vaccines and even
  called oral vaccines.

  saliva of a rabid dog for hydrophobia in 1833,
  antedating Pasteur.
• Swan antedated Koch in the discovery of
  Tuberculinum an important Nosode before 1880

• When the best selected remedy does not act well
  both in acute and chronic, for assisting the
  effect of the main remedy.

• According to Hahnemann where diseases are not
  local, there may be local clinical expressions
  presenting itself in different forms in
  different patients. The recurrence of attacks
  are due to fundamental causes in the constitution
  of children resulting from disposition, which is
  transmitted by hereditary factors. From the
  evolutionary point of view the Hahnemann theory
  of chronic diseases, the concept of causation and
  concomitant put together forms the basis of
  totality.

  the report in the Journal of the American Medical
  Association Taking out a child's tonsils and
  adenoids, or the adenoids alone, to treat
  chronic middle-ear trouble offers only
  short-term and limited relief.

  their not inconsiderable risks, (complications)
  and costs we believe that neither operation
  should be considered.

• P/c Throat pain with fever since two days
  
• H/o Started first at the age of one year ?
  after taking cold drinks. The patient was given
  paracetamol tablet which produced severe skin
  rashes and was treated with steroid injections.
  Later diagnosed as paracetamol allergy. Soon
  after she developed pain in both the ears and
  difficulty in swallowing , pain extending to
  ears
• F/o Allregic Rhinitis for father .
  Chronic Sinusitis for the mother .
• H/o Frequent skin rashes from exposure to
  dust with occasional episodes of wheezing ? cold
  weather . Fever with tonsillitis since two days.
  o/e Tonsils enlarged pain in the ears on
  swallowing. o/e Temp. 103 F, face flushed with
  severe head ache especially in the frontal and
  temporal region. Thirst

• Rx Belledona 200 / 4 hrly for two days. Temp.
  Normal. Throat pain ? Patient comfortable.Develop
  ed mild pain in both the ears with slight watery
  discharge from the Rt ear. Referred to ENT
  surgeon and diagnosed as middle ear infection.
• Rx Kali Muriaticum 30 / tds. for three
  days. Pain and discharge reduced. Patient
  comfortable.
• Based on the tendency to take frequent cold.
• Rx Tuberculinum 2c/1d Placebo for 2
  weeks
• Patient free from all
  the troubles for the past 1month.
• Rx Tuberculinum 1m/1d, Placebo for 4
  weeks.
• Reported with improved appetite
  and weight gain of 1 kg during the last one
  month.
• Rx Placebo for 4 weeks.Tonsils normal.
  Patient had no recurrence of cold or cough
  inspite of taking cold drinks during the past few
  months occasionally.
• Since the girl was allergic to all
  allopathic medicine she was completely free
  from all the troubles

  cough for the past 6 months.
• H/o Sinusitis for the mother .Fond of
  sweets and chocolates. Very meticulous in
  studies. Gets angry easily.
• P/c Severe throat pain with enlarged
  tonsils since this morning. Sneezing H/o
  having exposed to cold air the previous day. O/e
  temp. 100.2? F.
• sore throat with hoarseness. Pain
  while eating.
• Rx Hepar Sulphuricum 30/3 hrly for 2
  days.
• H/o Tonsillitis on and off treated by
  allopathic medicine. Cannot tolerate cold
  weather. Covers the head during sleep even in
  summer.
• Rx Psorinum 200/1d Sl 2 weeks.
• Feels better. Temp. normal.Throat pain
  reduced. Tonsils normal in size. Rx Psorinum
  1m/1d Pl 2 weeks.
• G.C. Fair.No cough or cold. No
  recurrence of the previous complaint till now.

• Master Sathyaswarupan 6 years.Fequent
  cold and cough since one month. Bed wetting since
  birth almost daily. Tendency for constipation .
• H/O Asthma in the family for mother
• cold and cough 2 days with throat pain
  ,watery discharge from nose O/e
  Tonsils enlarged and congested.
• Rx Baryta Carbonica 30- 3 times a day
• Patient feels better throat pain reduced.
  Not passed urine in the night in the last 2 days.
  
• Rx Baryta Carbonica 1M one dose, Placebo
  for 2 weeks
• G.C improved. No bed wetting. Appetite
  improved. No cold or cough since past 15
  days. Rx Medorrhinum 1M/ 1 dose , Placebo for 2
  weeks
• Rx Placebo for one month

• Frequent tonsillitis 6 months after
  joining the School . Tendency for head sweating
  . Can tolerate cold very well.
• Fever with throat pain since 2 days.
• O/e . Small follicles in both the tonsils .
• Rx Kali.mur 30 3 times a day for 2 days
• Patient improved. No throat pain. Follicles
  remain as before.
• Rx Staphylococcin 200 / 1 dose
  placebo for one week
• G.C better Rx Staphylococcin 1m / 1 dose
• Placebo for one month

• Selvi. Jeya Priya 6 years.
• Recurrent tonsillitis.lt change of
  climate. H/O primary complex at the age of 3
  years, treated with allopathic drugs. Tendency
  for frequent cold and high temperature at least
  once in a month. Very poor appetite.
• Rx Influenzinum 200 1 dose. Placebo for one week
• Complaint of severe headache with high
  temperature and throat pain since yesterday. Rx
  Bell 30 4 times /day for 2 weeks.
• Temperature normal, throat pain better. Rx
  Influenzinum 1m 200 one dose, Placebo for 1 week.
• Feels better. Rx Placebo for 2 weeks.
• G.C improved. Reported free from all the
  symptoms. Appetite is good. Tonsils remain normal
  .

• BACILLINUM . Indicated for weak lungs of children
  with chronic catarrhal condition and attack of
  suffocation at night with different cough.
  Tickling in the throat with sudden cough. Otitis
  media after sore throat. glands of neck enlarged
  and tender. Disposition to catch cold, chronic
  recurring sore throats and cough. Appetite poor.
• CARCINOSIN. Childs developments arrested,
  dwarfishness, glands enlarged of tubercular
  origin, enlargement of tonsils. Tonsillitis
  recurrent, wants to clear the throat often. Pain
  on empty swallowing, influenza constantly
  relapsing. Never being well since. A good
  remedy for children with stubborn asthma cases,
  worse from vaccination. Worm complaints. H/o
  severe acute infection especially whooping cough
  or pneumonia and their vitality never come back.
  Tendency for constipation. Desires cold things,
  fat chocolates, spicy food.

• MEDORRIHINUM. Catarrh of the throat and thick
  white mucus is constantly drawn from the
  posterior nares Albuminous , frothy sputum,
  small green bitter balls viscid, difficult to
  raise, sensation as if she had taken a severe
  cold with distressing aching in bones , throat
  sore and swollen deglutition of either liquids
  or solids impossible, throat constantly filled
  with thick grey or bloody mucus from posterior
  nares
• PSORINUM. Ulcers about the tongue and mouth.
  Ulcers are found in infancy. Sore throat chronic
  ulcers of the throat chronic thickening and
  elongation of uvula enlargement of tonsils
  parotids and sub maxillary glands, they become
  hard and tender to touch. Swelling from taking
  cold glands of the neck sore. Eradicates tendency
  to quinsy. Hawking up of cheesy pea like balls
  of disgusting smell and taste recurrent quinsy.
  Profuse offensive saliva. Tough mucus in the
  throat. Tonsils greatly swollen painful
  swallowing with pain in the ears. Dryness of
  throat, Disposition to hawk, sensation of lump,
  plug etc, cutting, tearing, intense pain to ears
  on swallowing.

• PYROGEN. Homoeopathic dynamic antiseptic, dry
  throat, articulation difficult, mouth is foul and
  the taste putrid, tongue red and dry, clean,
  cracked, smooth as though varnished.
• STAPHYLYCOCCIN. Allergic conditions, acts best
  when there is a definite bacterial factor and
  there is more weakness due to lack of proper
  food, heredity is prominent.
• STREPTOCOCCIN. Infected purulent tonsils,
  chronic sore throat has got an effect in reducing
  temperatures, septic symptoms in infectious
  diseases, middle ear infection ,neck glands
  enlarged.
• TUBERCULINUM. Takes cold easily, without
  knowing how or where symptoms ever changing,
  enlargement of tonsils , a nosode adapted to
  persons of light complexion and blue eyes, tall,
  slim, stoop shouldered and flat chested, glands
  indurated everywhere , pronounced and rapid
  emaciation

• The fact that in the chronic phase the nosodes
  particularly Bacillinum and Tuberculinum which
  corresponds to the majority of cases as revealed
  in the family history, we may safely conclude
  that the nosodes can be considered as a very
  important tool in the prevention of recurrent
  tonsillitis adenoid as they promote the
  immunological process as evidenced by the
  satisfactory results obtained at the end of
  treatment.

• The homoeopathic approach of
  etiology such as change of weather, thermal
  reaction of cold things , chilly atmosphere,
  dietary indiscretions of taking lot of chocolate
  preparations, fast foods, creamy items and many
  times milk and milk products also play a major
  role as the exciting and maintaining causes.
• Based on the above points
  we can safely conclude homoeopathy alone treat
  the patients as a whole and not the disease and
  also to enhance the immunological strength of the
  patient which gives blanket protection from those
  allergic factors previously affected with.

• To conclude the Nosodes when
  judiciously employed according to strict
  homoeopathy principles may prove to
• be the oral vaccines for giving complete
  immunity in preventing diseases.
