Weathering
Weathering is the process of braking down rocks
into smaller pieces that become soil and sand.
The agents (causes) of weathering are wind, air,
temperature, ice, and plants.
This is an example of Physical weathering. In
this picture there was probably a collision
(impact) which means that other rocks hit these
rocks and it finally broke apart.
This is an example of chemical weathering. In
this picture the rock has minerals containing
iron that turned its color orange , this happens
when the rock is oxidized.
3
Erosion
Erosion is when rocks and sediments are moved
from their original location.
The agents (causes) of erosion are gravity, water
(running waves), ice (glaciers), and wind.
This is an example of erosion. In this picture
the water is flowing down and leaving its
original location. In this picture the agent of
erosion would be water or running waves as seen
in the picture.
This is an example of wind erosion. In this
picture the wind broke down the rocks and left
only a little bit of it. The agent of weathering
in this picture is wind.
4
Deposition
Deposition is the process of sediments being laid
down in layers.
Sedimentary rocks are formed when sediments are
compacted and cemented into the ground.
This is an example of deposition. In this picture
the sand is being layered and layered with more
and more sand as the water layers over it.
This is an example of a delta which is involved
with deposition. In this picture the green part
is the delta which is actually plants or crops
growing in. This was formed in the edge of the
river while it builds up and shapes a land form.
