NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES   1. The Red Cross must
be notified in the event of a family emergency.
The Red Cross will confirm the emergency with the
proper agency (e.g. Hospital, Doctor, Nursing
Staff). The rear detachment commander is always
available to assist you.   2. Call your Fort
Hood Red Cross Agency at 287-0400/0402 and if
away from the Ft.Hood area call
1-877-272-7337   3. Ensure that you inform the
Red Cross of your family member's location and
unit. For example My husband, SPC John Doe
,is in HHB2-20 FA BN, 41st Fires BDE, III Corps.
He is currently deployed in support of Operation
Iraqi Freedom. The Red Cross will then pass that
final information to the Battalion. The
Battalion Commander will have the final authority
approving someone to return on leave under
emergency conditions because of a Red Cross
message (see following page).  4. If leave is
approved, transportation arrangements will be
made to ensure the soldier is able to return to
the place where his presence is required.   5.
The soldier will be transported to the airport
for his leave and will either return to Ft Irwin
or Ft Hood, depending on official instructions.
