What is the Job of the Circulatory System?

• supplies the body with oxygen, nutrients, and
  chemicals
• Carries away wastes and carbon dioxide

PARTS OF THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

• BLOOD VESSELS

THE HEART

• Made up of FOUR chambers
• Divided into a left and right side
• Each side has an atrium and ventricle
• Size of a fist and is a strong organ

• chambers contract and relax about 70 times per
  minute
• It contracts to keep blood flowing around the body

• Made up of
• - Plasma
• - red blood cells
• - White Blood Cells
• - Platelets
• There are four main blood groups A, B, AB, and O

• Arteries
• Capillaries
• Veins

AORTA

• The main trunk of a series of vessels which covey
  the oxygenated blood to the tissues of the body
  for their nutrition
• It is located at the upper left part of the body
  and is 3 cm in diameter

ARTERIES

• The arteries are like a highly ramified tree, the
  common trunk of which formed by the Aorta
• These extend through the entire body
