Thesis Statement

• In her novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
  uses Atticus Finch to highlight the qualities of
  a loving father.

Has Strong Character

• Atticus does not pretend to be one thing in
  private and another in public.
• Gracious child Atticus Finch is the same in
  his house as he is on the public streets(46).
• Atticus sees the good in Mrs. Dubose.
• I think that was her way of telling
  you-everythings all right now, Jem, everythings
  all right you know, she was a great
  lady(111-112).

Loving

• Atticus cares about his kids.
• Jem and I found satisfactory. He played with
  us, read to us, and treated us with courteous
  detachment(6).
• Atticuss kids love there father because he cares
  about everyone, even blacks.
• He Tom is, and hes asleep. Dont wake him
  up(51).

Modest

• Atticus is always proper in front of his kids.
• Atticus did something I never saw him do before
  or since, in public or in private he unbuttoned
  his vest(202).
• Atticus Finch does his best to act polite to
  everyone and everything.
• If your fathers anything hes civilized in his
  heart(98).

• Atticus Finch believes that everyone is created
  equal and no one person is better than the rest.
• I am defending a negro(75).
• Atticus tries his best to love everyone and
  everything despite what they may do.
• I certainly am. I do my best to love
  everybody(108).
