Our Brief History

• Formed by Staff Council Development Committee in
  1st Quarter 2004
• First meeting and delegate election held in May
  2004
• First Council meeting in June 2004

Purpose

• Serves in advisory role to University President
• Participates in committees and special projects
  as directed by the President
• Facilitates communication from the staff to
  senior administrators

Structure

• 19 delegates, representing all academic units and
  departments
• 4 Standing Committees
• Professional Development
• Smith Award
• Elections and Bylaws
• Health Safety
• Ad hoc committees as required
• Meets last Thursday of each month, UC 260, 3-4 PM

Professional Development

• Responsible for planning, recommending and
  administering staff professional development
• Manages professional development budget leverage
  existing resources to assist in professional
  development
• Delivers theme-based development programs to
  employees
• Example Commitment to My Coworkers Doing
  Business _at_ Clayton State
• Develop programs based on organizational need

• Conducted staff level training needs assessment
• Managerial level survey is under development
• Created Training Interest Focus Group
• Presented 4 programs, 170 attendees

• Responsible for Staff contribution to the Campus

• Identifies and addresses issues pertaining to
  health safety of faculty, staff, students and

• Delivered office safety workshop planning CPR
  certification course in February
