• Whats the difference?

Curriculum Plan

• I build this individually or with a team before
  I begin teaching.
• I review the curriculum frameworks and/or scope
  and sequence documents, new assessment data
  (WASL, ITED, AP, IB scores, student surveys),
  department or school goals for the year, and what
  I did last year to plan what I would like to have
  students work on in the new semester/year.
• I know my plan will change in scope and sequence
  as I monitor and adjust learning for students.

• I map out what I would like to do in chunks of
  time (weeks or months).
• I plan backwardsworking in units.
• I include organizing concepts, processes and
  skills, types of evidence, and knowledge and
  content.

Curriculum Mapping

• I take notes on what I actually taught, which may
  differ from what I planned to teach, based on
  student progress, unforeseen schedule changes,
  monitoring and adjusting to student
  needs/understanding.
• I map organizing concepts, processes and skills,
  types of evidence, and knowledge and content.
• I may choose to also note how I differentiated
  the curriculum for different learners, how many
  days/weeks a unit actually took to complete.
