  in Earth Sciences, Natural Sciences,
  Environmental Sciences, Engineering or Geography
• Full-time attendance over one academic year (9
  months), or part-time (day-release or
  block-release) over 2 to 5 years

Physical Hydrogeology Aquifer properties,
groundwater hydraulics, groundwater storage and
flow, pumping tests, river-aquifer interactions,
contaminant transport, groundwater tracers,
aquifer investigations. (40 hours lectures

credits) Chemical Hydrogeology Groundwater
chemistry, aquifer mineralogy, hydrochemical
trends, water-rock interactions, groundwater
contaminants, contaminant hydrogeology,
environmental isotopes (40 hours lectures

credits) Applied Hydrogeology Groundwater
resources, recharge, aquifer vulnerability,
protection, monitoring management, double
porosity behaviour, groundwater flow solute
transport models. (40 hours lectures
practicals field visits, seminars. 20
credits) Diploma Project Supervised, independent
study leading to a Diploma Report. (20
credits) Fees As for UCL graduate courses in
sciences, currently 2940 (UK EU), 14470
(overseas) Employment There are good prospects
for employment of hydrogeologists with
environmental engineering consultants,
regulatory bodies (eg Environment Agency), in the
water, waste and mining industries, in
environmental safety departments of manufacturing
industries, and in research institutes (eg the
BGS). Staff at UCL have well-established contacts
in all these areas.
