Revising the Action plan- key considerations
  • Audience aimed at must be clear.
  • Map climate change activity and identify gaps to
    avoid duplication of ongoing and planned
    activity.
  • Need to prioritise a clear set of outcomes and
    focus on the delivery of these by the key
    regional and local organisations and agencies.
  • Role of the Climate Change Executive Group in
    co-ordinating delivery must be clear and must add
    value.
  • Role of Local Government Performance Framework
    Climate Change indicators in underpinning some
    actions

  • Greater emphasis on adaptation - including carbon
    sequestration projects?
  • Adding value to other regional plans RSS/RES/ IRS
    plus other more relevant including Biodiversity
    Strategy, Forestry Framework, Biomass/Biofuels
    strategies
  • multi functional actions eg addressing impacts
    like flooding, water resource/quality pressures
    and habitat fragmentation.
  • Other actions to be considered include
  • Reducing transport emissions
  • Retro fitting housing stock
  • Communicating climate change
  • Increasing business engagement
