Countering Drug trafficking into

  • 70 of drugs trafficked through western lowland
    near to Panj, Moskovsky, Nizny Panj, Shuroabad,
    Parhar.

30 of drugs trafficked through highland near to
Ishkashim, Horog, Rushan, and Qalai-Khumb.

ODCCP Assistance to establish Drug Control Agency
  • Protocol between Tajikistan and ODCCP signed in
    April 1999
  • DCA established on 1 June 1999
  • DCA operational at the beginning of 2000
  • 790 kg of narcotics (530 kg of heroin) seized in
    2001
  • Joint operations and controlled deliveries
    conducted
  • Agreements with regional and international police
    forces.

Cooperation with the RFBS
  • In 2001 5.5 tons of narcotics, including 2.5 tons
    of heroin, seized and destroyed
  • Major trafficking groups targeted and large
    shipments confiscated
  • Joint operations with the DCA conducted
  • Protocol on operational cooperation between DCA
    and RFBS signed in July 2001.

  • 8.8 tons of narcotics (as against 7.1 tons in
    2000)
  • 4.2 tons of heroin (as against 1.9 tons in 2000)
  • More 70 of narcotics were seized as part of
    UNDCP projects
  • Tajikistan is in the top five countries in the
    world for heroin seizures.
