Osteoblastoma

Osteoblastoma

• Rare tumor similar to osteoid osteoma but larger
  in size (gt2 cm)
• Risk of malignant transformation
• Four presentations
• Giant osteoid osteoma (gt 2 cm)
• Blown out, expansile lesion similar to ABC
  (particularly lesions involving the spine)
• Aggressive simulating malignant tumor
• Periosteal lesion

• DDx Go Ape
• GCT
• Osteoid osteoma
• ABC
• Plasmacytoma
• EG
• Mets
• Bone abscess
• Enchondroma
• Osteosarcoma

Osteoblastoma

• Treatment
• Surgical resection
• Recurrence rate approaches 15 (50 if
  aggressive)
• Rarely undergoes malignant transformation to
  osteosarcoma
