Estimated number of ARV needed

• According to Govt. out of 658 reported cases
• Developed AIDS 47
• Already Passed away 30 (in 2005)
• So it is estimated a number of 67 is need ARV
  in coming day.

• We have to discuss more on accessibility of
  ARV, positive and Negative aspect
• India may assist Bangladesh on Treatment
  Education and Advocacy Exploring Possibility

Current ARV Treatment

• At present Ashar Alo has been providing ARV to
  38 individuals
• And Mukto Akash has been providing to 15
  Individuals

Availability of ARV

• Currently 3 medicine are available
• Two Combination - Lamivudine, Zidovudine
• Three Combination - Lamivudine, Zidovudine
  Nevirapine
• Single Drug - Avifanze

• Ashar Alo Society
• Collaboration with Baximco Pharma in reducing
  price.
• Support from Dutch Bangla Bank and Action AID.
• Mukto Akash Bangladesh
• Support from Dutch Bangla -a private Bank
• Collaboration with CAAP- a non-govt. organization

• No Drugs for Babies and Pregnant Women
• Second line ARV
• No Who Pre Qualified Certification
