Title: A YouthLed, ICTFocused Enterprise Serving Public Schools in the Philippines
1A Youth-Led, ICT-Focused Enterprise Serving
Public Schools in the Philippines
By Christine Lopez Manila, Philippines
2-To provide ICT vocational skills to
disadvantaged Filipino youth from high schools in
urban slums within Manila using mobile
telecenters built on 3-wheeled trikes.- It is a
mobile education, using a common Filipino mode of
transport called tricycle which we call
trike.- This Trike will then be called an
e-Trike as this will become a self-contained
mobile, wireless telecentre which travels into
urban communities in Manila, specifically in
selected public schools.
3Our Vision
Our Mission
- Today's young people need to be ICT literate.
-
- Our mission is to pass on our training to future
youth. -
- To teach, share and apply ICT training to
elementary and high school level students in
public schools.
Is to help empower Filipino youth to become
independent and productive citizens of the
Philippines. We also envision that through
onsite tutorial and assistance, our student
recipients will become competent and literate in
the job and develop other business opportunities
focused on ICT.

4Project Location Manila, Philippines
- Mobile eTrike allows fast access to reach
schools in Manila's notorious traffic. - The objective of our project
- To serve youth in the communities we work in.
- Providing internet access directly to the public
schools, who typically don't even have computers. - Our mobile solutions means students do not
have to travel long distances to benefit from the
lessons as we deliver training onsite.
100 public schools located in manila.

5On Innovation
Social Impact
The reason there are no ICTs in urban schools is
because of lack of funds from the government Our
approach is innovative as there is currently no
mobiletelecenter unit operating in the entire
phils. E-trike is a pioneer. Using a mobile
solution, then via the use of an LCD projector
linked to out laptops, teach a variety of
introductory ICT training to large numbers of
students.
We currently teaching about 500 students but
now want to scale up our program.. We hope to
teach/ reach 2000 students from 100 public
schools over the 1st 12 months of scale up phase
of operation. We would anticipate that if we
can reach this then as many as 10 - 20 of
these students will then go on to seek further IT
training locally whether via scholarship or local
IT schools.

6We offer basic introduction to computers and
ICTs, using multimedia CD-ROM's and live internet
lessons. Schools are contacted by our team to
schedule a training and then our team carries out
the onsite visit usually lasting a full day.
These trainings are low cost (approx
USD.20cents per students per training
session),however we work in number of schools
that cant afford this training visit, and these
free trainings is supported by our other income
generating activities/services.
