Scripture Mark 116-20 Matt 99

• Mark 116-20 
•  16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he
  saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net
  into the lake, for they were fishermen.
• 17 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will
  make you fishers of men."
• 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.
  
• 19 When he had gone a little farther, he saw
  James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a
  boat, preparing their nets.
• 20 Without delay he called them, and they left
  their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired
  men and followed him.

• As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named
• Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth.
  "Follow me," he
• told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

• John 129-34  - Jesus the Lamb of God
•  29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him
  and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away
  the sin of the world!
• 30 This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man
  who comes after me has surpassed me because he
  was before me.'
• 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I
  came baptizing with water was that he might be
  revealed to Israel."

• 32 Then John gave this testimony "I saw the
  Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain
  on him.
• 33 I would not have known him, except that the
  one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
  'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and
  remain is he who will baptize with the Holy
  Spirit.
• 34 I have seen and I testify that this is the Son
  of God."

• 1) Following Jesus implies intimate relationship
  with Him
• a) Church the Bride of Christ
• b) Gen 2 24 leaving and uniting (cleaving)
• For this reason a man will leave his father and
  mother
• and be united to his wife, and they will become
  one flesh.

  of Christ
• a) Not passion for other things
• b) Passion for He Himself Col 23
• in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
  and
• knowledge.
• c) Obedience is the result of love for Christ
