Student Survey
  • Students answered 23 questions about their
experience with the Senior Project during the
    week following Boards Night
  • Their answers to most of these questions are
    shown on the next slides.
  • What, if any, is the significance of these
    answers?
  • How can we make the SP experience more closely
what we envision it to be?

8
What do we Envision? Whats our goal?
  • We are working with students to be excellent
    writers, oral communicators, organizers,
impression-makers as well as world citizens.
  • We are teaching skills necessary for all students
(grades 9-12) to be successful in these goals.

9
As we review these questions,
  • Think about how we can make it BETTER!!!!!!!!!

Activity for Departments
  • Review these survey results (a copy is on the
    T-drive/Senior Project folder)

31
Judges Comments
  • Review the Judges comments on the Hillgrove
website Senior Project page (last entry on the
    page)
  • Senior English Teachers are reviewing with their
    students
  • Review some of the comments with your students
    and talk about them

32
Tentative Plan for April 21 and 22
  • Presentations in your classes on these dates
(earlier dates so that feedback can be used more
    effectively)
  • Students wont be dressed the same as the Boards
    Night presentations
  • Help them with timing (6, 8, 10 minute warnings)
  • Rate them, or at least give them some comments to
    help them
  • Students may rate or score them for your own
    classroom discussions

33
With your students
  • Help them to think about
  • That will be me next year (or in 2 years)
  • I would have a hard time doing that
  • I can improve myself with practice
  • Hillgrove HS requires me to take these things
    seriously
  • How can I better apply myself to be ready for
    Senior Project?
