What is Storm the Stage?

• Drama and musical theatre stage production for
  young people aged 16 to 19 years.
• Supporter is Hollywood star Hugh Jackman.
• 20 grand finalists (10 drama and 10 musical).
• 10,000 will be available to further the
  education of selected performers.
• 1,000 Special Briggs-Gibbs Award

National Competition

• Local heats, semi-finals and state finals held in
  most Australian States will decide finalists in
• Best Performance Drama.
• Best Performance Musical Theatre.

Quality Grand Final

• State finalists from Eastern States will fly to
  Perth in 2009, to perform in the Storm the Stage
  Grand Final to be held in the prestigious
  Burswood Theatre around August.

What did our supporter, Hugh Jackman, say?

• I encourage young WA performers to test and
  amaze themselves by accepting the Storm the
  Stage challenge, Mr. Jackman said. I was
  fortunate to be noticed for my talent in
  Australia and, hey, here I am on Broadway, a

How will you be judged?

• Two performance categories
• Category 1 Drama Theatre.
• Category 2 Musical Theatre.
• Solo performance of no more than 5 minutes
  duration.
• Must be from published material and in English.

The Judging

• Judges of each heat may be local drama/musical
  people, performing artists or civic leaders.
• Semifinals, State finals and the Grand Final will
  be judged by professionals.

Judges for the Grand Final.

• Highly qualified arts (drama musical) industry
  people.

The Venues

• Heats will be held in local halls or theatres.
• State finals will be held in each capital city in
  large available theatres.
• The Grand Final will be held at the Burswood
  Entertainment Complex 2,000 seat theatre.
