Title: NITROUS OXIDE

1
BASICS OF NITROUS OXIDE
Presented By
2
All you need to know N2O !!
  • How much N20 are you currently flowing ?
  • How much fuel are you flowing ?
  • How much alternator amperage ?
  • What specific gravity fuel do you use ?
  • What heat range spark plug is proper ?
  • Why is fuel cell location important ?
  • Can you answer above questions properly ?

3
N2O Flow ??????
  • What is I.D. of solenoid ?
  • What is I.D. of line being utilized ?
  • What jet size is in use ?
  • What pressure is on the bottle ?
  • You should flow the system _at_ 950 psi for 10sec
    and re-weigh the bottle !
  • Each 1lb of N20 / 10 sec equals 100 HP !

4
Fuel Flow ??????
  • What is I.D. of solenoid ?
  • What is I.D. of line being utilized ?
  • What jet size is in use ?
  • What rating pump and regulator are in use ?
  • What weight fuel is in use ?
  • With .69-.75 s.g. fuel (gasoline) system should
flow 105-125 ccs in 10 sec for each 100 HP !
    E-85 135-150 ccs in 10 sec.

5
Ignition System Basics
  • Reduce timing 3-4 degrees per 100 HP N20
  • Install 1 step colder plug per 150 HP N20
    (smaller gap may be necessary)
  • Install quality ignition system

6
Charging System
  • Always use an alternator with a rating of 80-100
    amps (2 stage N2O- 150-200amps)
  • Always use high quality batteries and electrical
    components

7
Ampherage Needs
  • 20 amps for ignition
  • 15 amps for motor fuel pump
  • 15 amps for N20 fuel pump
  • 20 amps for water pump electric fan
  • 15 amps for 1st stage N20
  • 15 amps for 2nd stage N20
  • 10-20 amps for lights, transbrake, retards

8
Other Info
  • With rear fuel cell, run more fuel pressure than
    required due to G-forces
  • Always run 900-950 bottle pressure
  • Try not to run projected tip spark plugs if
possible (ground strap will burn off )
  • Open up exhaust side of motor by whatever means
    (headers, big mufflers, cam, etc.)

9
Other Fuels
  • Methanol
  • Ethanol E85
  • Nitromethane
  • Butane
  • Propane
  • Etc.

10
Volume Velocities
  • Plates
  • Plenum Tubes
  • Fogger Systems
  • Etc.

11
Response Time / Sec.
  • Gasoline vs HP vs Volume
  • Methanol vs HP vs Volume
  • Ethanol vs HP vs Volume
  • N2O vs HP vs Volume
