Beginning the IB Diploma
  • September to December is a key time.
  • Students should be studying every evening 2
hours minimum. But the most important sign is
    independent study done willingly.
  • During the 2 year course we hope that students
develop the characteristics defined in the IB
    Leaner Profile...

16
The IB Learner Profile
17
Grade 12
  • October internal interim is first impressions of
    teachers
  • December interim is a good indicator of progress.
  • End of year exams are a good indicator of
problems and allow the student to test study and
    revision habits.
  • Poor performance leads to resit exams in
    September.
  • Poor performance in resit exams can lead to being
taken off the IB Diploma or repeating grade 12

18
Grade 13
  • Extended Essay
  • Internal Assessments
  • Registration for IB Diploma or Certificates
  • Mock exams after Christmas Holiday
  • Study leave
  • Results are published early July on internet

19
Study advice and deadlines
  • Apart from preparing for the final written exam,
    courses have written coursework components,
    practicals and orals.
  • Deadlines are put in place to help students plan
their time. If students fall behind with
assignments, practicals etc then life will get
    more and more difficult.
  • IB Diploma Programme Handbook
  • offers advice on study skills
  • identifies deadlines
