Input Schedules
  • Standard Input Templates
  • Everest comes with a set of predefined input
    templates which can be customized.
  • Creating New Input Schedules
  • New input schedules can be created using the
    Schedule Wizard.
  • Modifying the Input Schedule using Member
    Selector
  • Once you have created the structure of an input
schedule, you can easily change the specific
dimension members by using the Member Selector.

8
Creating EVSND Input Templates
  • Function EVSND - stands for Send value
  • EVSND references another cell and sends the value
in that cell to the server when the Send and
Refresh Schedules command is selected from the
eSubmit menu. The parameters specify the
dimensions that identify where the data value is
to be sent in the database.
  • Example
  • EVSND(D16, "Finance", "Revenue", "Store1",
    "Budget", "2005.Jan")
  • Result Sends the value in Cell D16 to the
    database.
  • EVSND is only used in input schedules.

9
The EVAPP Function
  • Function EVAPP( )
  • What does it mean? Application id
  • What does it do? Returns current application id.
  • Example
  • EVAPP( )
  • Result Finance

10
The EVAPD Function
  • Function EVAPD( )
  • What does it mean? Application description
  • What does it do? Returns current application
    description.
  • Example
  • EVAPD( )
  • Result Financial Analysis Application

11
The EVAST Function
  • Function EVAST( )
  • What does it mean? Application Set
  • What does it do? Returns current application set
    name.
  • Example
  • EVAST( )
  • Result PETDEPOT

12
The EVASD Function
  • Function EVASD( )
  • What does it mean? Application Set Description
  • What does it do? Returns current application set
    description.
  • Example
  • EVASD("PETDEPOT")
  • Result PetDepot Application Set

13
The EVUSR Function
  • Function EVUSR( )
  • What does it mean? User Name
  • What does it do? Returns current user name logged
    into Everest.
  • Example
  • EVUSR( )
  • Result TSMITH

14
The EVDIM Function
  • Function EVDIM("AppName", "DimType ")
  • What does it mean? Dimension
  • What does it do? The EVDIM function retrieves the
    dimension name from the database.
  • Example
  • EVDIM("Finance","A")
  • Result ACCOUNT

15
The EVDIM Function
  • The dimension types are
  • AAccount
  • EEntity
  • CCategory
  • TTime
  • RCurrency
  • I Intco (if you have Intercompany flagged in
    your financial application)
  • UnUser defined - Each user defined
    dimension is
    assigned a numeric value
    after the U, U1, U2, U3, etc.

16
The EVCVW Function
  • Function EVCVW("AppName","Dimension",
    "FilterList ")
  • What does it mean? Current View
  • What does it do? Returns the current view setting
    for the specified dimension.
  • Example
  • EVCVW("Finance","Entity")
  • Result CONREGION
  • Note FilterList is an optional parameter.
  • EVCVW("Finance","Entity","CALCY")
  • Double-clicking the cell returns a list of all
    members filtered by "CALCY"

17
The EVDES Function
  • Function EVDES("MemberID", "AppName")
  • What does it mean? Description
  • What does it do? Returns description for the
    specified member.
  • Example
  • EVDES(A2,B1) Where cell A2 contains the member
ID CONREGION and B1 contains the application
    name FINANCE or, EVDES("CONREGION",
    "FINANCE")
  • Result Regional Consolidation
  • The member ID for which you want to return a
description must be somewhere on your worksheet.

18
Adding line item detail
  • You can add line item detail to provide
additional information in support of your
    numbers.
  • This is done by creating a hyperlink from a cell
within your input schedule to another document
    (workbook, word document).
  • At this point the Hyperlink to the line item
detail is available only to you.
  • If you want the line item detail to be available
to others you would submit the linked document as
    a supporting document.

Report Templates
  • Standard Report Templates
  • Everest comes with a set of predefined report
    templates which can be customized.
  • Creating New Reports
  • New reports can be created using the Report
    Wizard.
  • Modifying the Report using Member Selector
  • Once you have created the structure of a report,
you can easily change the specific dimension
members by using the Member Selector.
  • Everest will retrieve the data for the new member
from the database when you refresh the report.

21
Reporting
  • Modifying the Report by changing the View
  • A report can be modified by changing members in
    the Current View.
  • Saving Reports
  • Regardless of whether you create a new report
using the Report Wizard or modify an existing
report template, you can save these reports
locally for use at a later time.
  • Saving Reports as templates
  • If you modify an existing report template or
create a custom report you can save it as a
    template for future use.

22
Reporting
  • Modifying report templates
  • Only Application Administrators can save
    templates on the server.
  • All users can modify a template and save it
    locally for their own use.

23
Creating Report Templates
  • EVGTS- stands for Get value and scale
  • EVGTS retrieves a data value based on the
specified members and scales according to the
    scale property of the dimension.
  • If the scale property is "Y", then EVGTS uses the
scale factor in the "ScaleValue" parameter. If
the scaling property in the Account-type
dimension is "N", no scaling occurs regardless of
the scale value assigned to this function.
  • If the same member name is used in more than one
dimension, the dimension must be specified. Use
    the syntax as follows "DimensionMember"
  • Example
  • EVGTS("Finance",1, "AccountSales",
    "EntitySales", "2005.Jan", "Budget")
  • Result The value is returned from the database.

24
Creating a Report Calculation
  • EVBET - stands for Better/(Worse).
  • EVBET performs a better or worse comparison of
two values, based on the account type property of
    the account member.
  • Example
  • EVBET("Finance", "Revenue",B2,C2)
  • Result if cell B2 is greater than cell C2 and
the account is an income account, the variance is
expressed as a positive. If the account is an
expense account, the variance is negative.

27
Creating Trend Reports using EVTIM
  • EVTIM - stands for Time Period Offset.
  • EVTIM specifies an offset from a given time
    period.
  • Example
  • EVTIM("Finance",D4,1)
  • Result The cell containing this formula will
increment one period based on the value in cell
D4. For example, if cell D4 contains 2005.Q1, an
increment of 1 will return a value of 2005.Q2, an
increment of 2 will return 2005.Q3, etc. If cell
D4 contains 2005.TOTAL, an increment of 1 will
    return 2006.TOTAL.

28
Retrieving Data from Multiple Applications
  • Application sets can contain multiple
    applications.
  • A single report can retrieve data from multiple
    applications within a set.
  • The report must contain cells that reference the
    multiple applications.
  • EVGTS statements can be created referencing cells
    containing the application names.

Conditional Formatting
  • Excels Conditional Formatting feature can be
used to automatically format certain cells on
    your reports.
  • This feature can be used to apply fonts/styles,
borders (over-lines and under-lines) and cell
shading to cells that meet a specified criteria.
  • You can compare the values of selected cells to a
constant or to the results of a formula.
  • Conditional Formatting can be used in Reports and
    Input Templates.

31
Conditional Formatting Examples
  • You can have negative values on a worksheet stand
out with a bold style by using the following
    criteria
  • Cell Value Is less than 0
  • You can have calculated values automatically
formatted with an over-line by using the
    following criteria
  • Formulas is A10"Calc"
