Born September 29, 1838
Raised in New Orleans, Louisiana
Second American to Attend the Ecole des Beaux
Arts in Paris (Richard Morris Hunt was the

Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge inherited

His grandson was president of the firm a century
after the original firm was established
Today the firm is known as Shepley Bulfinch
