Assignment 3 What you need to do?
  • TASK 1 Being an official
  • Explain the roles of all officials involved in
    various team and individual sports detailing
    their specific responsibilities, what sort of
    decisions they make and how their actions affect
    the game.
  • Task 2 How good were you at officiating?
  • Officiate during a lesson in the selected two
    sports and evaluate your ability stating all your
    strengths and weaknesses as an official.
    Highlight possible ways you could improve your
    ability as an official and put these into an
    order of importance.

Officials What do they do?
  • Sport is an integral part of life and officials
    are recognised as a significant part of our
    sporting world.
  • Every weekend sports officials contribute their
    time, energy and expertise to enable participants
    at all levels to enjoy positive sporting
    experiences.
  • Without the umpires, referees, judges, marshals,
    timekeepers, scorers and starters to control and
    direct play, national sports organisations would
    be under huge pressure to provide organised
    sport for their members.
