Steve Leinwand, a national math education expert,
facilitated the selection process resulting in
four programs which best supported the JCPS
Vision.

Data about the programs was collected from focus
groups, coaches, teacher leaders, classroom
teachers, ECE teachers, ESL teachers, parents,
and community members.

The most comprehensive analysis was completed by
65 elementary teacher volunteers from across the
county who spent over 24 hours comparing the four
programs to the district vision.

Math Investigations 2 received the highest rating
of any program in 7 out of 9 categories.

The Steering Committee supported the teachers
evaluation and agreed that the GE Foundation
would fund Math Investigations 2 as the
elementary mathematics program.

by JCPS focus group teachers in the Ease of Use
category due to a teacher friendly lesson format
and pre-made materials.
