How we started?

• Info Seminar in Bucharest, together with
  TRIALOG, may 2005
• Over 70 representatives of Romanian NGOs
  participated at the event together with
  representatives of MFA, MPs, European Commission,
  and other European Development Platforms

Main achievements in 2005

• Raising awareness of the Romanian NGOs regarding
  Romanias engagement in development cooperation
• Building a partnership relation with the Ministry
  of Foreign Affairs for the elaboration of
  Romanias strategy for development
• Connecting the Romanian organizations to the
  European and national platforms and networks for
  development.

Objectives for 2006

• to identify all the Romanian NGOs willing to
  engage in development activities
• to raise the expertise of Romanian NGDOs on
  development policy
• to develop a legally established Romanian
  platform of NGDOs
• to connect Romanian platform of NGDOs to European
  platforms and networks
• to work with MFA for Romanias development
  cooperation policy elaboration

Romanian NGDO platform

• coordinate the cooperation among NGOs and
  establish a common position in order to influence
  in an appropriate way the evolution and
  formulation of the MFA strategy on development
  cooperation policy
• build the legitimacy and transparency of the
  implementation mechanisms of the development
  cooperation policy in order to promote the
  importance of the NGOs as strategic partners of
  the Romanian State in implementing the
  development cooperation policy and the
  humanitarian aid.

The main issues for policy dialogue in 2006

• Romanian Strategy for International Development
  Cooperation finished and approved by MFA
• Methodology for selecting/financing/implementing
  projects in line with the acquis
• Action Plan for implementing the strategy by the
  moment of accession drafted and approved by MFA
• Coherent law/ legislative framework for the
  international development cooperation policy to
  be submitted to the Parliament by the mid 2006.
