Title: Ways to Demonstrate Mastery

1
Ways to Demonstrate Mastery
  • Instead of everyone taking the same test or
completing the same activity it is much more fun
to allow students to use their 7 intelligences to
    show mastery
  • This will engage them in a way that makes them
    want to do their best
  • The other students will learn more than they ever
would from a book as they see how each person
    interpreted the information.

2
Linguistic Students
  • Write plays, movie scripts, puppet shows,
television programs, or develop crossword puzzles
    to demonstrate mastery.

3
Logical Students
  • Let these students look for patterns, find
categories in the subject matter, describe
    relationships.
  • (For example- Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S.
    Grant led parallel lives)
  • These are the students that would love to do
    experiments in Science.

4
Bodily Kinesthetic Students
  • Let these students touch and feel as many things
as possible. When testing for mastery let them
build dioramas, create a dance interpretation or
a game that represents what they learned.
  • They can still write about their journey- but
give them the outlet for bodily kinesthetic as
    well.

5
Spatial Students
  • L et these students draw, paint, sculpt a product
to depict what they learned. Let them create the
Battle of Gettysburg with Legos. Let them create
a maze game that uses flash cards with the
questions. These are the students that can look
at those pictures of gears and tell you which peg
will turn when the gear goes left.

6
Musical Students
  • These are usually your auditory learners- Let
these students tell stories, write songs, or tell
a story through interpretative drumming. These
are the students that can tell you verbatim what
you said on Tuesday at 917 a.m.

7
Interpersonal Students
  • Let these students teach a lesson they develop to
the class. These are the students that would
love the challenge of developing a PowerPoint
story about the topic and presenting it to the
class. Guess what most teachers rank high in
    this category. ?

8
Intrapersonal Students
  • These are the students who are shy so they wont
want to stand up in front of the class and give a
lecture on the trials and tribulations of the
depression era as it relates to the octogenarians
who hoard money in the current century. These
are the students who would be happy to take the
multiple choice test. However, these are also
the very students who are self-motivated and
could self-direct their own learning if given the
    opportunity.
