Goals of the Board of Education
  • To continue to improve communication and positive
    outreach to the community.
  • To complete the negotiation of a fair and
    equitable contract with the CSEA.
  • To continue to emphasize safety in policies and
    operating procedures.
  • To continue to monitor capital projects.
  • To meet the challenge of increasing the use of
    technology throughout the district by conducting
    paperless board meetings.

  • All children can learn.
  • Academic progress is everyones first priority.
  • Everyone in the process must feel personally
    responsible.
  • We must review and use the data.
  • We should be restless about the rate of
    improvement.

Major Academic Initiatives for 2007-2008
  • Make adequate yearly progress for all subjects in
    all grades and sub-groups.
  • Implement new K-5 Math program.
  • Implement Virtual High School.
  • Implement Mandarin Chinese language studies in
    the middle school and Chinese culture studies in
    the intermediate school.
  • Expand elective, college level and AP courses in
    the high school.
  • Expand enrichment and accelerated offerings in
    grades 3-8.
  • Coordinate district-wide curriculum mapping.

  • Encourage and support continuous academic
    improvement.
  • Develop a five-year plan for continuous academic
    improvement.
  • Complete individual curriculum mapping.

    level scope and sequence discussions for all
    academic areas.
  • Increase the number of faculty members using the
    Internet to communicate goals, objectives, lesson
    plans, assignments, projects, enrichment
    activities, and student progress with students
    and their parents.
