• Four two week elective rotations with an
  emphasis on practical on-farm learning
  experiences
• Dates available throughout the year, but Basic
  Course is a prerequisite for others
• We train you to diagnose herd problems by
  teaching you
• What cow samples and data to collect and how to
  get them
• How to analyze and interpret herd level data
• How to develop action plans that work!

• Visit 2-4 Wisconsin dairy farms (150 mile
  radius) per rotation
• Typically work 800AM till 530PM, no out of
  hours or weekend duties

• Basic Clinical Skills for Production Medicine (2
  rotations x 12 students)
• Interpret herd records and identify production
  and health problems
• Assess housing and ventilation
• Estimate costs of disease and develop partial
  budgets

• Fresh Cow and Calf Problems
• (3 rotations x 8 students)
• Evaluate calf and peri-parturient cow management
• Collect samples and interpret herd diagnostic
  tests (metabolic infectious)
• Assess hygiene and housing
• Assess nutritional status of herd

• Mastitis Problem Investigations
• ( 2 rotations x 8 students)
• Analyze SCC and mastitis data
• Examine milking procedures, housing conditions
  and test milking machines
• Develop treatment protocols and action plans

• Advanced Techniques in Dairy Records, Lameness
  and Nutrition
• (1 rotation x 8 students)
• Set up and use dairy health records systems
  (DC305)
• Interpret feedstuff analyses
• Analyze diets and reformulate rations
• Advanced hoof care
