Small Business Innovation Research
INNOVATION Prototype computer program, the
Maneuver Analysis Planning System (MAPS) tool,
for optimizing a wide variety of advanced mission
scenarios. Advanced stochastic optimization
techniques and modern trajectory
computation/optimization methods are integrated
into a single, synergistic software
architecture.
- ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Multi-Algorithm Trajectory Simulation (MATS)
prototype software development for computing
accurate results to both low and high-thrust
optimization problems. Applicable to both mission
analysis and mission planning. - Multifunctional Stochastic Optimizer (MSOPT)
prototype software development that integrates
genetic algorithm and simulated annealing
techniques into one package. - High-fidelity models including DE405 Ephemerides
are incorporated into the MATS software package. - COMMERCIALIZATION
- Spectrum plans to integrate MATS with its ground
software package, AstroRT, for marketing as an
add-on module. - Spectrum will offer MATS in its spacecraft
development proposals. - Spectrum will use the unified program MAPS in
engineering support services to the space
industry.
- GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
- Provided optimal low-thrust strategies for
Constellation X (CON-X) and Solar Dynamics
Observatory (SDO) planning. - Currently employed in low/high-thrust trade
studies for Next Generation Space Telescope
(NGST). - Flight Dynamics Analysis Branch expects MAPS to
be its principal tool for studies involving
low-thrust orbit transfer.
