Day Vernon Residents Day - Events included workshops explaining energy
efficiency and tours of the Center - Eight drawings were held for Energy Star clothes
washers for Vernon residents - Vernon residents received a complimentary
fluorescent bulb in a mailing as a thank you for
participating in the program

- EEsmarts promotional booth displays were staffed
at the following conferences - Connecticut Association for Supervision and
Curriculum Development - The Connecticut Reading Association Conference
- The Connecticut Association of Schools Principals
Conference - Curriculum was received for K, 1st and 2nd grades
for schools in Westport, Stamford, Greenwich,
Darien, Ridgefield and Waterbury - Curriculum for grades 4 5 were completed in
December mailings to teachers to encourage the
use of the materials and to visit the SmartLiving
Center are in process

- 2002 RFP Program
- Four rounds were bid and the projects awarded
totaling 3.9M - Program reworked to focus on SWCT for Rounds 3
4 - Additional emphasis has been placed on capacity
relief - Round 3 4
- 18 projects funded 3 MW reduction for SWCT
- 2003 RFP Program
- Round 1 (SWCT) and Round 2 (Entire CLP
territory) opened in December 2002 - Emphasis on capacity relief maintained for all
rounds
7 OM RFP Pilot
- Program focused on SWCT for 2002
- Four proposals in final development
- Three proposals targeted for SWCT are in final
contract negotiations - Continued funding planned for 2003
- Targeted to help customers analyze their energy

10New Construction Program
- During the fourth quarter 25 schools were
completed - Total of 2,000,000 sf
- Projected savings of 1M annually (30 savings of
annual utility costs) - 1.6M incentive covered the added costs of
measures - UBS Warburg project was completed
- Projected savings of 85k annually
- 150k incentive covered the added costs of
measures
11Custom Services for CI Customers
- Paid incentives to three hotels in Stamford for
energy management systems and other HVAC systems
and controls - Westin Stamford Hotel

- Total incentives 333,714
- Annual savings greater than 2,000,000 kWh
- Lifetime savings greater than 34,000,000 kWh
12Small CI Program
- Approximately 2.90M was spent in the program
- 1.4M was spent in SWCT
- Efforts have been made to increase the total
number of contractors in the program with an
emphasis on SWCT - In May 800k was added to budget to focus program
in critical towns of SWCT - 506K was spent in
this area
13Municipal Program
- 100 of the projects, mostly schools, have been
audited and completed. - Remaining 10 was completed during the fourth
quarter - 10-15 increase in savings due to new negotiated
unit pricing -
- Worked with the following Urban Act towns
Thomaston, Plymouth, Naugatuck, Seymour,
Stamford, Plainville, Bristol, West Hartford,
Enfield, Vernon, Groton, East Hampton.
14Energy Star Homes
- Evaluating the possibility of enlisting local and
national home inspectors to perform home energy
inspections to avoid duplicative drive-up and
administrative fees - In fourth quarter 149 homes were completed in
35 towns with more than 20 builders participating - Year-end totals
- 612 homes completed
- 1182 sign-ups
15 Hot Shot Heat Pump Water Heating
- CLP has stopped installations but will continue
to service and provide removal and reimbursement
of customer copayments as requested - During the fourth quarter CLP was seeking remedy
or relief from the manufacturer
16SmartLiving Center
- The SmartLiving Center welcomed 13,239 visitors
during the year - Three evening seminars enhanced fourth quarter
activities - October Energy Efficient Insulation
- November Insulated Concrete Forms
- December Geothermal Heating and Cooling
- Launched a new educational display that allows
customers to see how much water can be saved by
using Energy Star washers
17SmartLiving Catalog
- New Connecticut based agency has been selected
for the design and layout of the catalog - Created newspaper insert (circulation approx
570,000) featuring 13 products that were
discounted 40 from current catalog prices - Evaluated new energy efficient products 20 new
items will be presented in Spring 2003
18Retail Lighting
- Participated in the following promotional
activities in the fourth quarter - Change-A-Light, Change-the-World
- Vernon Smart Energy Program (Torchiere turn-in)
- Several corporate events (NU, Pratt Whitney,
Duracell) - Redesigned bulb promotions that reflect changes
in market transformation
19Energy Star Appliances
- Participated in a rebate promotion with Sears and
Whirlpool on Energy Star refrigerators and
washers - Clothes washer raffles were held at the
SmartLiving Center and in Vernon - Started discussions with retailers and
manufacturers regarding pre-season promotions of
room air conditioners
20WRAP
- WRAP serviced 6022 households during 2002
- The neighborhood Blitz campaign surpassed its
annual goal and serviced 1026 households - For 2002 an estimated lifetime electrical savings
of 144,198,000 kWh was achieved
