Why are PartnershipsNecessary? China example
David Wong, ACO
  • The Chinese dislike doing business with
strangers helpful to be introduced properly by
an intermediary known to both sides.
  • If you make an independent initial approach, you
    should
  • provide as much information as possible about
    your company
  • what you hope to accomplish, preferably in
    Chinese.

20
Why is all this Necessary?
  • Business relationships are institutional not
necessarily predicated on close personal ties.
Good idea to cultivate personal friends in the
bureaucracy however, it may take years.
  • A host organization is often helpful as a partner
when visiting China. Organizations should be
carefully selected. Ability to get things
accomplished in China often depends on clout a
    partner has with the bureaucracy.

Chinese factories transform B.C. furniture seller
  • Hamilton Spill has distribution in 22 countries
now, and that is a direct result of using Asia as
my manufacturing base. If I were still
manufacturing in B.C.. The best I could be
thinking of expanding to would be North America.
