Fashion Merchandising CourseworkFashion Buying
This is an example of a six month buying plan I
created using retail math formulas and
spreadsheet concepts.
7
Here is an example of a memo I created for my
six-month buying plan. I created a scenario as a
buying for Maurices for juniors shorts. In the
memo I use figures from the six-month buying plan
to help understand why our sales and merchandise
quantities will be a certain way for the current
season.

Retail Math
  • Quantitative analysis of the fundamentals and
    functions of retail buying.

Fashion Merchandising CourseworkApparel Design
Analysis
  • Apparel design analysis taught me an
understanding of the elements and principles of
    design.
  • Developed an ample knowledge of fashion history.
  • Learned to see fashion as both a product and as a
    process.
  • Having an understanding of apparel terminology is
extremely important in the fashion industry.

Here is an example of different types of dress
silhouettes.
10
Here is an example of different prints found in
the apparel industry.
This is an example of the different style of
sleeves and neck lines.

Fashion Merchandising CourseworkFashion
Merchandising
In this course I learned the merchandising
functions of fashion including the fashion cycle
and trend forecasting. These are two examples of
trend boards I created for Fall 2008 forecasting
color.
12
Fashion Merchandising CourseworkInternship
  • The Buckle management internship Summer 2008.
  • Learned how to create a weekly schedule, process
    shipments, markdowns, recruiting, customer
    service, interviewing and denim knowledge.
  • Worked on window displays as well as displaying
    new merchandise throughout the store.

This shows the different learning objectives
required for The Buckle internship and dates that
they were completed.
13
This is a performance evaluation done by my
manager, Nick Zimmerman. This shows my
performance in comparison to other employees on
topics such as attitude, dependability and
quality of work.

Fashion Merchandising CourseworkAdvanced
Textiles
These are two technical data sheets for a lining
fabric and a fashion fabric to have an end-use as
a womans skirt. Using standardized testing, I
compared my fabrics rating to AATCC standards to
see if the fabrics passed or failed and if they
would be appropriate to be used to create a
womans skirt.

Computer Aided Design
This is an example of a girls toddler line that
I created using Kaledo. I created a short-sleeve
tee with a tank layered overtop, a ¾ length
sleeve shirt, a pair of jean capris and a pair of
shorts. My theme was Rockin the Playground
because I created playwear clothing. I
incorporated the rock star theme by adding stars
to my prints. I also used my color palette to
give it an edgy feel by using black to offset the
bright colors.
16
Here is a pattern that I cleaned, reduced,
corrected for bad repeats and re-colored using
Kaledo Print.
This is an example of a weave that I created
using Kaledo Weave.
17
Fashion Merchandising CourseworkVisual
Merchandising
Here are two small window displays that I created
with a group. The first one is emphasizing the
store Payless and their merchandise. The second
one is an informational theme promoting the
website fakesareneverinfashion.com.
18
The window display on the left is a large window
displaying outdoor patio furniture from Target.
We used fake grass as the floor covering and a
tan sheet as the backdrop to give it a outdoor
feel. The window on the right is at a store
downtown. We used merchandise throughout the
store to create a display of outdoor picnicking
gifts.
19
Fashion Merchandising CourseworkApparel In The
Global Economy
  • Group analysis of Zara and its experience with
    global expansion.
  • Researched company history, operations, target
    market, and competitors.
  • Zaras expansion overview strategy, Dunnings
    Theory, foreign markets
  • SWOT analysis and recommendations.

20
Here are a few more slides from my Zara group
presentation. I focused on how Dunnings theory
played a role in the global expansion of Zaras
company.
