    individual, community, state, and national levels
  • Learn about CSHCN data and national performance
    measures

  • Collaborative planning with all the state family
    organizations and identified programs
  • Adequate time for planning
  • Leadership training and experience
  • Support and mentoring during and following the
    training
  • Outreach to a variety of community brokers
  • Focus on diversity with intent both in the
    content and participation
  • Financial support for participants (child care,
    transportation, and consultant fees

Day One
  • We were introduced to a model of leadership for
    effective collaboration and shared problem
    solving
  • We learned strategies for structuring
    conversations that support shared learning and
    effective decision making
  • We learned communication skills necessary for
    engaging in crucial conversations.

Day Two
  • We learned about the definition, uses and
    limitation of performance measures
  • Listened to family stories and saw how they
    linked to specific national performance measures
  • Learned that we can access technical assistance
    about CSHCN data by going on line
