  • This is a variant of what the NoveList home page
    might appear as.
  • As you can see the majority of the page is
    advertising seasonal selections and hot items.
  • Two things to pay attention to
  • 1) On the left, there is a quick search bar,
    with support and tools
  • 2) At the top, there are tabs that help specify
    certain aspects of your search in efforts to help
    aid narrow your findings.

Types of Search
Help tabs
  • The tabs on top help narrow your search by topic.
  • There is a broad search of the database, a browse
    list option, a tab for books only, and a link for
    school resources.
  • The most common search is the quick search. It
    is the most convenient and expeditious.
  • There are other methods for searching.

Quick Search
  • This is an example of search results for Jack
    London (Author Search).
  • As you can see it shows popularity of each work,
    reading level, and whether or not it includes
    description.
  • It also has a sort by option, so that you can
    have the works ordered by alphabetical, date
    published, etc.

Search Our Database
  • When you want to search this database, you have
    options to choose from.
  • For example, lets continue our example with the
    author Jack London.
  • As you can tell, it is a longer process, but this
    is good for more exact searches, or searches when
    you know only a part of the authors name

Browse Lists
  • This tab allows you to browse certain lists.
  • Lets see what they have in the adult section.
  • An example of what one of these pages might look
    like would be
  • As you can see it can be extensivebut it is just
    enough to point you in the right direction, but
    with specifics.

For Readers
  • This is the For Readers tab.
  • There are different interest links, but lets see
    what they have about authors.
  • Each link A and Be jump you to that authors
    last namefrom there you get in depth author
    information.

Readers Advisory
  • This is the Readers Advisory section
  • Odds are this will not apply to you
  • This part of NoveList is focused on furthering
    the knowledge of staff and educators, rather than
    students.

School Resources
  • This is the School Resources tab.
  • Most of the material in this section will be of
    benefit to teachers and librarians. For example,
    there are guides for giving book talks.

  • So that is a pretty brief overview covering the
    search tools provided by NoveList, and how to use
    them.
  • As you should have been able to tell, this is a
    very reliable and powerful tool for school.
  • Good luck searching and enjoy the book selections
    that you find!
