Title: The Virgin Birth of Jesus
1The Virgin Birth of Jesus
2While the Pharisees were gathered together Jesus
asked them Saying What think ye of Christ
whose son is he They say unto him The Son of
David. Matthew 2242
3Some modern religions deny that He is the Son of
God
Many modern religious leaders deny His Deity
Many ask Does it really matter whose Son He is
Indeed it matters a great deal
4If the virgin birth of Christ is not true
The Bible is not true
His doctrine is not true
We have no hope
5The Essentiality Of It
6The integrity of the Bible is at stake
7And I will put enmity between thee and the woman
and between thy seed and her seed it shall
bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Genesis 315
8Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign
Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son
and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 714
9Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise
When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph
before they came together she was found with
child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband
being a just man and not willing to make her a
publick example was minded to put her away
privily. But while he thought on these things
behold the angel of the Lord appeared unto
him in a dream saying
10Joseph thou son of David fear not to take unto
thee Mary thy wife for that which is conceived
in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring
forth a son and thou shalt call his name JESUS
for he shall save his people from their sins. Now
all this was done that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet
saying Behold a virgin shall be with child and
shall bring forth a son and they shall call
his
11name Emmanuel which being interpreted is God
with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did
as the angel of the Lord had bidden him and took
unto him his wife And knew her not till she had
brought forth her firstborn son and he called
his name JESUS. Matthew 118-25
If these matters untrue what of the rest that
the Bible states
12The integrity of the Bible is at stake
The Deity of Christ is at stake
13For unto us a child is born unto us a son is
given and the government shall be upon his
shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful
Counsellor The mighty God The everlasting
Father The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of
his government and peace there shall be no end
upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom
to order it and to establish it with judgment
and with justice from henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Isaiah 96 7
14And he said unto them How is it that ye sought
me wist ye not that I must be about my Fathers
business Luke 249
15Jesus said unto them Verily verily I say unto
you Before Abraham was I am.
John 858
16I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up
stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them
Many good works have I shewed you from my Father
for which of those works do ye stone me The Jews
answered him saying For a good work we stone
thee not but for blasphemy and because that
thou being a man makest thyself God.
John 1030-33
Some say he was a good man Others say he was a
prophet but not the son of God
If these matters untrue neither a Prophet nor
good
17The integrity of the Bible is at stake
The Deity of Christ is at stake
The certainty of salvation is at stake
18But while he thought on these things behold the
angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream
saying Joseph thou son of David fear not to
take unto thee Mary thy wife for that which is
conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she
shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call his
name JESUS for he shall save his people from
their sins. Matthew 120 21
19In this was manifested the love of God toward us
because that God sent his only begotten Son into
the world that we might live through him.
I John 49
If he was not born of a virgin not the son of
god thus did not bring salvation
20The Evidence For It
21The New Testament writers support it
22And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent
from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was
Joseph of the house of David and the virgins
name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her
and said Hail thou that art highly favoured
the Lord is with thee blessed art thou among
women. And when she saw him she was troubled at
his saying and cast in her mind what manner of
salutation this should be. And the angel said
unto her Fear not Mary for
23thou hast found favour with God. And behold
thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth
a son and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be
great and shall be called the Son of the
Highest and the Lord God shall give unto him the
throne of his father David And he shall reign
over the house of Jacob for ever and of his
kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary
unto the angel How shall this be seeing I know
not a man And the angel answered and said unto
her The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee
and the
24power of the Highest shall overshadow thee
therefore also that holy thing which shall be
born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Luke 126-35
25And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us
(and we beheld his glory the glory as of the
only begotten of the Father) full of grace and
truth. John 114
26For God so loved the world that he gave his only
begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish but have everlasting life. For
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn
the world but that the world through him might
be saved. He that believeth on him is not
condemned but he that believeth not is condemned
already because he hath not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God.
John 316-18
27Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord which
was made of the seed of David according to the
flesh And declared to be the Son of God with
power according to the spirit of holiness by
the resurrection from the dead
Romans 13 4
28But when the fulness of the time was come God
sent forth his Son made of a woman made under
the law To redeem them that were under the law
that we might receive the adoption of
sons. Galatians 44 5
29The New Testament writers support it
The witnesses support it
30He shall be great and shall be called the Son of
the Highest and the Lord God shall give unto him
the throne of his father David And he shall
reign over the house of Jacob for ever and of
his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary
unto the angel How shall this be seeing I know
not a man Luke 132-34
If False Mary could have stepped forward at the
cross and at least attempted to stop the
crucifixion
31Then Joseph her husband being a just man and
not willing to make her a publick example was
minded to put her away privily. But while he
thought on these things behold the angel of the
Lord appeared unto him in a dream saying
Joseph thou son of David fear not to take unto
thee Mary thy wife for that which is conceived
in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring
forth a son and thou shalt call his name JESUS
for he shall save his people from their
sins. Matthew 119-21
Joseph knew it or else he would have followed
through with divorcing her
32And Mary arose in those days and went into the
hill country with haste into a city of Juda And
entered into the house of Zacharias and saluted
Elisabeth. And it came to pass that when
Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary the babe
leaped in her womb and Elisabeth was filled with
the Holy Ghost And she spake out with a loud
voice and said Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence
is this to me that the mother of my Lord should
come to me For lo as
33soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in
mine ears the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
And blessed is she that believed for there shall
be a performance of those things which were told
her from the Lord. And Mary said My soul doth
magnify the Lord And my spirit hath rejoiced in
God my Saviour. Luke 139-47
Elizabeth knew it to be true
34The New Testament writers support it
The witnesses support it
The words of God support it
35And lo a voice from heaven saying This is my
beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.
Matthew 317
36While he yet spake behold a bright cloud
overshadowed them and behold a voice out of the
cloud which said This is my beloved Son in
whom I am well pleased hear ye him.
Matthew 175
To deny the virgin birth is to deny the very
words of God thus to deny god himself
37The Effects Of It
38Establishes respect for the Scriptures
39Matthew records 40 generations yet after only 3
generations no descendants of Abraham Lincoln
Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye
have eternal life and they are they which
testify of me. John 539
40Establishes respect for the Scriptures
Reveals the surety of the supernatural
41And behold there was a man in Jerusalem whose
name was Simeon and the same man was just and
devout waiting for the consolation of Israel
and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was
revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost that he
should not see death before he had seen the
Lords Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the
temple and when the parents brought in the child
Jesus to do for him after the custom of the law
Then took he him up in his arms and blessed God
and said Lord now lettest thou thy
42servant depart in peace according to thy word
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation Which thou
hast prepared before the face of all people A
light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of
thy people Israel. And Joseph and his mother
marvelled at those things which were spoken of
him. And Simeon blessed them and said unto Mary
his mother Behold this child is set for the
fall and rising again of many in Israel and for
a sign which shall be spoken against (Yea a
sword shall pierce through thy own soul also)
43that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
And there was one Anna a prophetess the
daughter of Phanuel of the tribe of Aser she
was of a great age and had lived with an husband
seven years from her virginity And she was a
widow of about fourscore and four years which
departed not from the temple but served God with
fastings and prayers night and day. And she
coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto
the Lord and spake of him to all them that
looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
44If god could perform this could do anything he
says
And when they had performed all things according
to the law of the Lord they returned into
Galilee to their own city Nazareth. And the
child grew and waxed strong in spirit filled
with wisdom and the grace of God was upon him.
Luke 225-40
If virgin birth a farce how can we be sure of
the resurrection (or anything else)
45Establishes respect for the Scriptures
Reveals the surety of the supernatural
Establishes the certainty of a Savior
46If Thus born was born for the reason so stated
For unto you is born this day in the city of
David a Saviour which is Christ the
Lord. Luke 211
If not so born not the savior he claimed to be
and that was claimed for him
47The Virgin Birth of Jesus is of paramount
importance
Lays the foundation for His works miracles word
resurrection ascension coronation authority
Without it the Bible is untrue God does not
exist we are without hope
