Belt Tracking of Conveyors
1.The conveyor structure must be True. 2.All
pulleys,snub rollers,carrying idlers and return
idlers must be SQUARE with the frame and parallel
to each other. 3.Belt tension must be great
enough to prevent slippage at drive drum and for
the belt to conform to the crown of the
pulleys. 4.Cleanliness is essential to good
tracking ie. No foreign matter on rollers etc.

5.Tracking normally begins by starting on the
return run,working toward the Tail Pulley. 6.This
is followed by the top run in the direction of
belt travel. 7.START WITH THE BELT EMPTY .and
then begin to add a partial and then full
load. 8.Ensure the belt is stopped when making
adjustments and remember that it is better to
make several small adjustments rather than one
big one.

9.Be careful not to over compensate with
adjustment.
10. After Knocking the idlers be sure to let
the belt have at least 3 revolutions. 11.
Tilting idlers can also have good tracking
results. 12. Remember that tracking with tail
drums can cause long term belt stretch

REMEMBER
The HANDLE BARS PRINCIPLE
Face the direction which the belt is travelling
and tap the idlers as you would turn the
handlebars of a bicycle depending on which
direction you want the belt to go.
