What is a learning style?
  • It is the way you learn the way information is
    processed
  • It is individual-no right or wrong
  • Personality influences it
  • There are different learning styles
  • Your learning style can change over time
  • You can be a combination of the type of learner

    psychologists that help us understand how we
    learn.
  • The following are models we will use to help us
    understand how you learn

  • The visual learner
  • Learns best by watching

    prefers small groups, the wall flower

  • Extrovert-expressive, outgoing, energized by
    action, people, and things, speak before they
    think, share personal info easily, prefer to be
    with others, like working in teams, approachable,
    the party animal or social butterfly

  • Sensor-focused on the physical world, live by
    your five senses, concrete, realistic, practical,
    understand details and the particulars, only see
    the obvious, use words literally, live in the
    present, need evidence and facts (but why?),
    traditional and simple,
  • You see the tree instead of the forest

  • Intuitive-focus on the mental world, use the
    sixth sense a gut feeling, abstract,
    interested in what can be, idealistic,
    imaginative, look beyond the surface, head in the
    clouds, use metaphors, original and complex,

  • Thinker-value truth, use logic to make decisions,
    notice wrong reasoning, driven by their rational

    people, use justice, can be labeled cold, hard,

  • Feeler-value harmony, use personal feeling to
    make decisions, notice when people need support,
    live by their passionate heart, hide the truth so
    others wont get hurt, gentle with people, use
    mercy with others, labeled bleeding heart,
    softy, weak, take things personally, subjective,
    empathetic, thin-skinned
  • Uses logic to serve their feelings

  • Judger-decisive, and makes quick decisions, makes
    life firm and controlled, easier to finish
    projects, more serious, routine and predictable,
    uses schedules, dislikes surprises, needs issues
    settled, hard-working, can be too close-minded,
    gets things done asap, can be overly responsible,

  • Perceiver-adapts to situations and gathers more
    info before making a decision, makes life
    flexible and relaxed, prefers to start projects,
    disorganized, more carefree, spontaneous and
    unpredictable, does whatever comes, enjoys
    spontaneous and happy surprises, leisurely, can
    be too fickle or open-minded, procrastinates, can
    be irresponsible
