Who we are
  • Pegasus Technologies, Inc. was conceived in 1991
to develop an affordable stolen vehicle recovery
    technology
  • In 1994, while working towards this goal, the
ProAct line of Law Enforcement products was
    introduced

3
ProAct Stolen Vehicle Bait System
  • ProAct Systems have been used successfully by law
enforcement agencies to capture car thieves since
    1994.

4
ProAct IV Stolen Property Tracking System
  • ProAct IV was introduced in 2002 and has
successfully captured and jailed several hundred
    criminals.

5
VectorTrac Stolen Vehicle Recovery System
  • By Pegasus Technologies, Inc.

6
VectorTrac Stolen Vehicle Recovery System
  • Designed specifically to track and recover stolen
    vehicles
  • Radio frequency tracking is extremely robust and
    reliable
  • The tracking device is very affordable, about 1/3
    the cost of GPS systems

7
VectorTrac
  • Utilizes Proprietary Land-Based Infrastructure
  • Operates over UHF Radio Frequencies
  • Does not rely on GPS or Cellular

8
System Components
  • System Infrastructure
  • VectorTrac Control Center Hardware
  • VectorBase Control Center Software
  • Sector Activation Transceivers (SAT)
  • Remote Triangulation Receivers (RTR)
  • Mobile Tracking Receivers

9
System Components
  • Mini Vehicle Locator Unit (MLU)
  • This small Radio Transceiver is sold to your
customer and installed within their vehicle
  • Includes Antenna, Wire Harness, and Backup
    Battery
  • Completely hidden and silent
  • Very affordable, allowing for widespread market
    penetration

11
Tower Mounted Infrastructure
  • Sector Activation Transceivers
  • A typical city-wide system will include 4 to 6
    SATs
  • SATs transmit commands to MLUs and receive
signals from MLUs. They also measure Received
    Signal Strength.
  • Remote Triangulation Receivers
  • A typical city-wide system will include 1 to 4
RTRs receive signals from MLUs and triangulate
    vehicles approximate location.

12
Monitoring and Control Center
  • Control Center Software
  • Communication with System SATs and RTRs
  • Communication with MLUs
  • Customer Database
  • Detailed Operator Interface
  • Control Center Hardware
  • PC based VectorBase Software
  • Communications Gateway and Radio Datalink system
  • Datalink Antennas on rooftop

Many Valuable Features
  • Hidden and Silent
  • MLU is hidden from view. Nothing on vehicle
indicates that the vehicle is equipped with a
    tracking device.
  • Optional Panic Button
  • MLU has one activation input. When activated,
this will cause the MLU to send an alarm message
    to the Control Center.
  • Remote Engine Disable
  • Control Center may remotely disable the vehicle
    in an emergency situation.

15
MLU Installation
  • Less than one inch thick, the Mini Vehicle
Locator Unit is completely hidden within the
    Vehicle.

16
MLU Installation
  • The MLU is interfaced with the vehicle, utilizing
the vehicles electrical system for power. This
also provides a constant charge to the MLUs
    backup battery.
  • The MLU has a single output that can be remotely
activated to disable the vehicle in an emergency.

17
Typical Theft Scenario...
18
Customer notices missing vehicle
Calls control center
VectorTrac Control center
19
Control Center Verification
  • Control Center operator verifies customers
    identification and vehicle information, then
sends activation command to activate the MLU in
    the stolen vehicle.

20
Activation Signal is Transmitted
  • Sector Activation Transceivers
  • broadcast the Activation Signal
  • throughout the coverage area.
  • This SAT is located on an existing
  • tower with many other users.
  • Location Curacao, Netherlands Antilles

21
VectorTrac
  • Contacts the police according to where the
    vehicle was when stolen.
  • Conferences customer and police to aid customer
in filing a report. This helps
  • Determine that it is really a stolen vehicle
  • Ensure police get accurate info (license plate,
    vehicle description etc.)

Activated MLU
  • Transmits silent signal...

23
MLU Signal
  • Activated MLU transmits a silent radio signal.
  • Signal penetrates buildings and metal.
  • Signal is received by SATs and/or RTRs.

24
MLU signal is received by SATs and/or RTRs
  • SATs and RTRs Receive signal from stolen vehicle
  • Decode MLU ID and ignition status, measure signal
    strength
  • Forward information to Control Center
  • RTRs also send bearing information
  • The antenna on the top is an RTR antenna. The
lower antenna on the right side is an SAT
    antenna

25
Sector Activation Transceivers
  • SAT information is displayed on the Control
Center computer by shaded, colored circles. The
size of the circles are based on the strength of
    the received signal.

26
Remote Triangulation Receiver
  • RTR information
  • is displayed at
  • the Control
  • Center. The
  • red cones
  • Intersect
  • at the vehicles
  • approximate
  • location.

27
RTR on Cellular Tower
  • RTRs and SATs may
  • utilize existing
  • cellular towers.
  • Notice the RTR antenna on the top-right, above
    the downward tilted cellular antennas.
  • Location Curacao, Netherlands Antilles

28
Mobile Trackers
  • System operator dispatches Mobile Tracking
    Receiver equipped vehicles.

29
Mobile Tracking Receivers
  • Installed in Recovery Vehicles
  • Receive signal from MLUs up to 3 miles (5 km)
    away
  • Display direction to stolen vehicle
  • Display signal strength allowing close
    approximation of distance
  • Display MLU ID number and ignition status
  • Leads trackers to the exact location of stolen
vehicle, even if hidden from view

30
Mobile Tracking Receiver
  • Mobile Tracking Receiver antennas may be
    permanently installed or magnetically mounted.

31
Final Tracking
  • Once the Mobile Tracker is within 2-3 miles of
the stolen vehicle, the Mobile Tracking Receiver
will begin indicating directions to the vehicle.
Also displayed is the ignition status of the
stolen vehicle, letting the tracker know if the
    vehicle is running or parked.

32
Final Tracking
  • Once the vehicle is located, the engine may be
remotely disabled by the Control Center...

33
Vehicle is Recovered!
  • Theres no place to hide!!!

34
Control Center contacts customer
  • Informs customer that his vehicle has been
    recovered.
  • Provides information on how and where to retrieve
    the vehicle.
