ECO SCHOOLS - OVERVIEW

• All schools to be sustainable by 2020
• The framework was launched in 2006 (DCSF)
• Eco schools adopts the framework
• International Award Programme
• Includes UK, France, Morocco South Africa
• Schools work towards achieving one of three
  awards Bronze, Silver and the prestigious Green
  Flag which symbolises excellence

FREE RECYCLING SERVICE

• Lutons Waste Education can offer
• Site Audits
• Internal red recycling bins
• External 1100 litre bins
• FREE collection of recyclables
• Simple system which enables the recycling of
  paper, plastic bottles, drinks cans and cartons
  as well as many other products

FOOD WASTE RECYCLING

• NEW Scheme now available
• Caddies are provided which can be placed in the
  school kitchen, canteen, staff room class room
• The caddies are lined with biodegradable bags and
  allow the recycling of
• Fruit Vegetables (cooked and raw)
• Dairy products (cheese and egg shells)
• Bread, cakes pastries
• Tea bags etc....
• The food waste is turned into liquid fertilizer
  which is used on crops. The gas is converted to
  electricity
