First, the mother lays the eggs on a host
plant.

Then the larva eats the leaf where the mother
laid the eggs on.

Next,the larvae grows and grows until it
makes a chrysalis.

After that the caterpillar turns itself into a
chrysalis that way it can be a butterfly.

Finally, the chrysalis turns into a
beautiful big butterfly and it finds a mate
and lays eggs so the life cycle starts
again.
