IntroductionMoU on Soft Soil Engineering

• In March 1996 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
  between the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom
  of the Netherlands was signed
• The MoU included a program on Soft Soil
  Engineering
• Preparation of road engineering guideline
• Implementation of Plaxis program
• Trial embankments on Kalimantan
• Teaching program
• This Regional teaching program is the final part
  of the Teaching program

• First Regional teaching program to be held on
  Sumatera in May 2001
• Second Regional teaching program to be held on
  Sulawesi in July 2001
• Third Regional teaching program to be held on
  Kalimantan in September 2001

• Objective of Regional teaching program
• Distribution of MoU knowledge all over Indonesia
  by Indonesian teachers
• Knowledge consists of
• The process of road design and construction
• Geotechnical theory
• Exercises
• Remark
• Program is more on practical engineering then on
  geotechnical theory that can be found in
  guideline
